Just now beginning third year and I'm noticing that my attendings are very open to allowing me to do stuff, but I've also noticed that it's really on me to ask to be able to do it. For example, if a patient requires sutures, my attending will perform the suturing unless I express interest in practicing suturing. My problem now is I don't know all the cool stuff I could do as a third year.

Please share your experiences. What were your favorite experiences/procedures in 3rd year that your attending allowed you to perform?

You can basically do anything within reason that they will let you do. I was doing central lines, LPs, intubating, etc etc as a 3rd year. Just ask.

I think this varies on the time of year and the school, as well. They've been stingy as to what we're allowed to do. Apparently this changes in fourth year.
