What can I do at this point in the cycle? Update Letters? What is weak in my application? Looking for any advice!

  1. Pre-Medical
GPA 3.83, MCAT 511
2800 clinical hours working in the ER, clinics, and doing in home care
2500 volunteer hours, nonmedical volunteering
300 research hours over 3 semesters at school
120 hours of physician shadowing
I applied in 2024 and received a waitlist from UNC and WVU

Reapplying currently, interviewed with UNC 9/15 and received a continued review 12/19. Interviewed at ECU 11/11 and received a waitlist on 12/8. I currently have an interview at Albany scheduled for 1/23.

I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on my chances in this cycle? Should I send update letters to schools that accept them (even though I have continued to work the same jobs since my primary?) Is there anything I can do at this point in the cycle to improve my chances?

As an NC resident and someone looking to pursue primary care I was very hopeful about UNC and ECU. At this point I am starting to think about reapplying. Any advice, commentary, or suggestions are appreciated!!

Send a letter of intent.

You have a good shot at UNC. The raw post-II acceptance rate is 49% on Admit. That includes rejections. Being on the waitlist increases that number materially. Also, that 49% doesn't exclude post-II pre-A withdrawals, so that also increases your odds significantly.

I don't see a WAMC post before the start of the cycle or when you applied in 2024.

Kill your Albany interview. If you haven't convinced UNC after 2 interviews, I'm not sure what to tell you how to improve if they haven't told you what you needed to do the first time. You could still get an offer from them and ECU. Yes, you should write updates to your in-states.

Submit an application to Methodist Cape Fear. You are in-state for them.
