Hey registration for next semester opens next week, I am a sophomore and I am thinking of taking Micro or physio next semester, which one should I take that would be more helpful? And some insight the micro professor is much better than the physio proffesor he is a lot tougher. Thanks

Have you taken the MCAT yet? If you haven't already, having a semester of Physiology sounds like a good head-start.

I have not, so Phyio is the way to go?

I never took either class but physiology would definitely help much more on the MCAT. But in the end, you should take the one that interests you more because you won't get much out of a class if you're bored out of your mind in it (physiology tends to have that effect on some people).

Yeah, Physiology. Also, if you haven't already: Cell Biology (although I'm pretty sure that's universally a pre-req). Molecular Genetics also felt like a good way to consolidate molecular concepts. Healer brings up a good point: the renal system is salient in the Bio/Biochem section.

On this note, I actually forgot a disclaimer: I never had a formal course in Physiology. I learned everything I needed from MCAT prep books. However, I'll gamble some good money on the idea that taking a semester's worth of Physiology would be incredibly helpful for your MCAT preparation. As Aldol mentioned, the caveat being that if you're just going to be bored af in the class, you'll be wasting time and risking your GPA.

I took both but physio was with anatomy. I like micro better (decided to minor in it). Physio was much more applicable to MCAT studying although by the time I took the test I had to relearn a good chunk of physio. Micro was hardly the focus of my test. I would suggest taking whichever will benefit your GPA the best since you can always study physio during mcat preparation but you only have one shot to do well in the class.

If I'm remembering correctly, any formal class of Immuno will put you light-years ahead of anything the MCAT has to throw at you.

Beyond the MCAT, I think Immuno is pretty damn cool, and only seems natural you should have some degree of understanding of immunological systems if you're involved with healthcare.

Based on this thread, both. It looks like a lot of physiology was on other people's mcats, I had a lot of micro questions. Maybe take one in spring and the other in fall?

I would only want to take it once get a 35 plus hopefully
