For those of you in your first or second year of med school who took the minimum science prerequisites....did you feel less prepared than your classmates who were bio or chem majors? do you wish you'd taken more classes like genetics or biochem before med school?

Ooooo! This is a great question!! I am also wondering about this as well. I'm looking forward to the replies! As a non-trad post-bacc, I'm not in a huge hurry and if taking a nice amount of extra classes might help with the steep learning curve in med school, I'm all for it.

Not really. If your prereq bio classes were strong in mendelian and population genetics you will be adequately prepared for that course in med school. Biochem wouldn't be bad background but not necessary, but you can certainly get up to speed quickly in that one even with no background. Just expect to work hard and hit the ground running and you will do fine.
