MY pharmacy uses PDX right now, but we are switching to EnterpriseRX soon. I really am wondering if anyone has any tips on EnterpriseRx cause I will not be able to make the training session because of school.

so you guys are all still using typewriters?
 
HBOC, Meditech, Siemens, Cerner, Horizon Med Managment, Eclipsys.....
 
I personally like HBOC... but only because I used it at 3 different facilities over 10 years.. This is a totally biased opinion.

Its funny, because all of our pharmacists have PDX so ingrained in their brains that they are going crazy because EnterpriseRX is "So much ****" as they say... damn old people and their computer illiteracy.

we go live with EnterpriseRX on Tuesday, hello 3 hour wait times. Apparently this new software is built for a workflow with like 3 techs and a RPh, too bad we only have 1 tech and 1 RPh on every night... failbus A&P... big failbus...
 
At Giant Eagle in Columbus, OH most stores are on the PDX. They have their new stores on EPS2 (I'm guessing EPS is enterprise?) and are slowly converting their older stores from PDX to EPS2.
In order to make the workflow more efficient they are routing calls to EPS2 stores to the central call center. As soon as they grow the call center, they can continue to expand EPS2 system. On PDX system is seems like there is a customer calling every 5 minutes or so. Some are as simple as "I want a refill on this medication..." or simple drug questions, which is why routing them to a call center would be perfect.

If you were to select an inpatient Rx system for a brand new hospital, which one would you choose? Still HBOC? Is Eclipsys getting more market share than others? How about Siemens Rx?

I think you would be the right person to ask since you oversee so many different hospitals in different locations.

Hard for me to answer that. I've worked intimately with HBOC and Meditech. I prefer HBOC. From my observation, HMM and Siemens look ok too.

But, there are so many variables. Every system will require interfacing with automation, scanning, wholesaler's drug file etc..

Let's say HBOC is great with Pyxis... yet horrible with Accudose.. whereas Accudose is great with certain bedside scanning and Pyxis is not...

Man...this is a whole another area of pharmacy where my knowledge is very limited... but I know enough to interfere with and get in the way.:meanie:

I *tried* to use PDX at a place I was floating last month. I don't think it's changed since we all used Apple IIe's.

We are switching to Cerner pretty soon and they (management) keeps talking about how much better it is than IDX Lastword blahblah. So, is what they are saying true or false?

Currently use BioRx (awesome GUI)

Last job used HMS and MedDispense, which apparently are value products.. LOL
 
Switched from PDX to RX30 in December. Picked up a little Cerner during my hospital elective. Downloaded the citrix client so I can monitor patients from home. Very nice, not because I want to take work home, but if I want to work on a patient presentation the night before, it comes in handy.

Inpatient: Siemens
Outpatient: PCSI, PCIS, EPIC and PharmASSIST Symphony.

pcsi is our main patient profiler but glitchy
pcis is the hospitals main communication with insurance and stuff
EPIC is what our doctors use to send orders down to us ("jumping into hyperspace")
PharmASSIST allows us to track our Rx's. I LOVE IT but it only works if everyone does their job and not skip steps.

PDX is a dino for sure, but it works well for a 1 Rph 1 tech setup. Enterprise was awesome when I was at weggies, because the workflow with so many employees was super efficient. 2 techs input, rph pre-ver, 3 fillers, rph verification, rph contact manager, another tech or two on adjudication. Seems like all the complexity would just be a pain to go through with two people in the pharmacy.

I think I will leave it though, it is still pretty funny even if it is mostly nonsensical now.
 
We use PDX at Safeway. Easy to use. Dreading the switchover to Enterprise in December.
 
I work for Supervalu and we have ARx......its our own system and it is amazing! I LOVE IT! I think it is better than WAG, super easy to use, touch screen.......i couldn't imagine using anything else

Found out today that we're moving from PCSi to Cerner...it sounds great but who here has experience with it? 🙂
 
Meditech. Its not terrible, but the recent update left us with only intermittent mouse clicking ability so we have to tab through everything, which is super annoying when you are only changing one box.
 
Been with CVS since 1999. Rx2000 was very user friendly n efficient. Rxconnect's software itself is pretty efficient, but it goes down all the time and CVS is too cheap to upgrade the hardware to run the system corectly.

I just started a new job today. It is Mckesson. It is relatively fast, but so inefficient!!!! It is sooooo backwards. Makes everything difficult, even a simple edit. You more or less can't edit efficiently. Heard they are changin their CPU system soon...hope so
 
inpatient - Meditech with Pyxis Connect

Someone referenced earlier the system they use in itself was good but the design at their hospital was bad. I have to second this. A lot of hospitals could have a great system but a very poor implementation of it.
