Do med schools really review general science starting from scratch, esp for nonsci majors? I can only imagine how brief of a review that would be.

Maybe easier to describe where MS1 begins for the following categories?:

Biology:

Chemistry/biochem:

Physics:

Math:

Anything else:

Thanks a lot!

They don't really review. They may define a few things like bond types during lecture but there is no formal review time.

I've found for biochem they do make an assumption that you remember basic chem/orgo concepts. Stuff like equilibrium, nothing really in depth or techinical. If you don't remember that kind of stuff it would really quick to look it up.

As far as math/physics go: The only equations we have to know are in the notes, simple memorize and then plug in the appropriate numbers on the test type stuff.

With the exception of phyics and stuff like molecular orbitals and random Orgo pathways, pretty much if it was tested on the MCAT you should have some idea of whats going on.

Anything else:

In patient interviewing, they assume you are some sort of backwoods creature raised by wolves that doesn't have any experience talking to or interacting with human beings.

Sadly, this is the appropriate starting level for 20% of pre-meds.

I joke, we're all cool people. Except those that aren't. You know who you are.

Med school starts at a level similar to upper division courses at undergraduate institutions. Knowledge of lower division courses is assumed and largely not repeated in med school.

starts at level one, but i heard u can warp to level 3 by going down a pipe

What college did you go for Undergrad? This will vary among different institutions. It would be really helpful if you tell us or give a range if the exact name is not possible.

why is this important to know now? wait till you get there.

It matters a lot. By the time I get to medical school, it might be a little late.

This is sooooo true, lol.

Actually, it's a warp whistle that will get you to level 3 quickly.

NO, NO, NO! It;s up,up,down,down,left,right,left,right, B,A,
Then you get 30 lives so if you mess up no biggie.
By the way, I like the question the OP asked. I don't think it is ever too early to think about medical school curriculum. What's the harm in being curious and trying to be prepared.
