What did you do a few days before your interview?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Reviewed my app... and just trying not to freak out!

What worked for me and what I recommend is:

1) sit down for a practice interview with a friend. there are lists of good practice questions online.

2) try to relax. when you feel yourself starting to freak out, go for a run or play a out song that you can yell the lyrics with and lose yourself in.

3) focus on the key reasons why you want to go to medical school. what's driving you? what do you want to end up doing career-wise?

i think if you have that first and foremost in your mind, and if you're otherwise more or less relaxed, you'll be alright.

Good luck!

drank myself blind and got as much sex as possible

nothing like being relaxed

What's with all this flipping out before interviews. Be you. If you don't get in being you, then you shouldn't be there in the first place.

Being you does however include knowing what you've done lol. So, just brush up on your research and the answers the big questions (why doctor, why unique, etc....). Maybe the basics of the healthcare stuff too...

went over some the interview questions posted on SDN. 30mins before the interview. Besides that nothing else.

1)Freak out. 2)Relax. 3)Review your app. 4)Read up on the school.

OP, you had it mixed up.

your welcome

Mbeas... I just had to tell someone all the bad reasons for applying to Caribbean med schools in another thread. Then I saw your sig and was like... ugh WTF. How clever of you... haha

Yep...that and drinking a nice bottle of willamette valley pinot noir; browsing the SDN threads...the usual. tonight i got adventurous and made a pre-interview checklist that consisted of things like, surprise, a suit, tie, and underwear.

Back to football.

Check out the interview feedback threads and talk to a mirror (after drinking that delicious pinot noir of course)

FTR... this really should have gone in pre-Allo, and will probably get moved there.

I did nothing until I was actually traveling to my interview. Then I read over my app, and my sheet about the school. I also glanced over the interview feedback on SDN.

If you were involved in any research that you included in your application...definitely review what it was about! One of my interviews was really tough because I failed to do this. The reason I failed to do this is because I was basically more of a dishwasher type person and didn't have a large role. However, since I included it in my app they definitely wanted me to explain what the PI was actually doing! (sounds simple, but if you don't know at least A COUPLE specific details...badness ensues!)

Also figure out a least one or 2 reasons why you want to go to SPECIFICALLY whatever school you are interviewing at. (look at their website/brochure and at least find one thing that you can maybe-kinda-sorta relate to your experiences/interests....this is key because ALL of my interviews asked me "what attracts you to (insert name of school)?"
