This is probably a silly question and I'm probably just paranoid... But, my test is at 4pm tomorrow and I'm one of those people who can't function without food and something sweet to follow. But at the same time, food can give me a food coma.

I was considering bringing these items :
1. water to feel quenched
2. crackers/cheese/sausage to feel full with no food coma
3. chocolate chips to satisfy my cravings
4. 5-hour drink to wake up
5. Advil for the headache

Not sure if those items are a wise choice, but nonetheless, this is the plan. My question is... What did you eat during your 15-minute break? Anyone else take a 5-hour BEFORE or DURING your test?

Lasagna, a watermelon, a hot dog, a bowl of beef stew, and a tuna sandwich.

don't stress out. Anything to munch on is fine. Too much food can make you sleepy. Food in your tummy can make you want to poop (it's true that's why restaurants are required to have restrooms by law). Just remember not to drink too much water!

Just bring water and one snack. You want to spend time reviewing and not procrastinating by doing something like this. The natural way is the best.

seriously, you dont need all that. the 5-hr drink will keep you awake but it wont make you focus and you dont want to take an advil as it may alter your thinking patterns.

i had a mint chocolate zone bar, cheese crackers, and a bottle water...thats it. did some stretching too, it helped.

dont go overboard, thats asking for trouble.

if anything take some melatonin early the night before to give a you full nights sleep. i did it and it worked for me

idk i didnt do any reviewing right before the test, its useless and prob gonna sike you out.

I function better when I am hungry.

The day of my test (or any big exam I have)... I don't eat... I keep my stomach hungry till after examination.... I only drink water.

I read an article long time ago, human brain has addapted to work at higher efficiency (higher I.Q) when your hungry. Remember, we evolved as hunters/gatherers, when hunger levels are high, thats when you are most alert to hunt something..... Maybe the whole thing is B.S, but I believe in it

idk man, when im hungry i get irritated and then cant think properly. you have to eat so you brain can get energy to think

Interesting replies 🙂
I guess I'll just bring: a few crackers, a few chocolate chips, and some water.
I tend to get headaches during longgg tests, but I guess I'll go without the advil... don't want to take any risks with altered thinking.

Has anyone ever skipped the break and continued with the DAT? Is there any scientific reasoning behind this following assumption: since your brain is thinking hard already, it'll work better if it keeps going ...versus the brain working hard, taking a break, and then having to get into the 'flow' going again?

i doubt ull even be hungry during ur break. right when my break started i ran outta the testing room and into the waiting room frantically opened my locker and shoved a few pretzels in my face....in case i was subconsciously hungry. then i swore 15 minutes had passed and my test was going to start without me so i ran back....and had like 12 mins to go....paranoia.
i basically used my break to write down every and any math equation i could think of.
& food comas, theyre a terrible thing. i like never eat.....it impairs me too much.
goodluck tomorrow! just chill mentally

weird as it is I go into the test drinking a ton of gatorade/pocari sweat (asian gatorade) and usually have to go pee throughout my practice tests (which for some reason helps), I go pee during the break and drink some more. My test is in 7 days, good luck to you sir.

Granola bars
And I'd get off SDN if I were you. It causes massive stress

😳 It's so hard to get off SDN 🙁 ........................ it's my second home with my second family 😛

But you're right, NO MORE SDN UNTIL AFTER MY TEST TOMORROW 👍
Byeee

PB&J, hershey's chocalate bar, 5 hr energy (for the energy but without the need to pee later).

I was full and ready for the next sections. And, after my 10 minute micturition session, my bladder was unfull.

I brought an apple but I didn't eat it because I'm a baller. Didn't go to the bathroom either. I just wanted to get that thing done.

Good luck on your test... Your going to kill it.... Full break down tomorrow when you get done with the test!!!!!

5 course meal. 😛

all I had was a sip of gatorade and wen to the bath room to wash my face and freshen up.

I wanted to get back in to jot down math formulas make my right triangles.

*continuation of paragraph above*

"but I did wear an adult diaper, and stuffed it with baby power to absorb the smell"

:poke:

I had a banana, which was a good choice. You'll be surprised how filling a banana is.

I also drank half of my water bottle (0.5 L bottle) during the 15-minute break which forced me to run to the bathroom during the QR section with the clock still ticking. Bad call.

👍 I'm the same way. I study/think better when I'm more on the hungry side. Mind you, that doesn't mean I function even MORE when I'm starving. There's a difference. If I did have to eat anything, I'd make sure it consisted of simple carbs/lots of glucose.

hey herk... i'm getting ready to take mine next week and i'm a little confused as to what you're writing down during the break... are you writing these equations down on your whiteboard and leaving them on there once the test starts? i would consider that to be against the rules, is it not? and as long as i'm on the subject, do you know exactly what they give you to write on? crummy white boards, huge ones, tiny ones, etc...? thanks!
