What did you learn during your dental observation experience?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
secondary question you can't think of an answer for yourself?

just a simple secondary question...i'll even give you somewhere to start

talk about patient care...what did you observe when you were at the dentist...how did he treat his patients and how did that help him get his job done!

you can't have us answer that for you because that would be UN-ethical!

That wasn't my intention DrK. I was simply curious about what kind of things can be learned by going to a general office to observe that's all.

There's lots of things to learn. Small tricks that can help when you are in dental school. Learning about various parts of the mouth. Learning about different kinds of cases that dentists have on a daily basis. What kind of stresses a dentist goes through in a day. And a lot more.

sounds good, thanks Rishio 😉

depends on your dentist, depends on you and what you ask, depends on how the practice is run, etc. you can learn a lot or you can learn very little but shadowing is shadowing IMO. it is just a formality.

Very insightful response.

What can you possibly "learn" from merely "observing" a dental procedure??

If you pay attention and ask the right questions, you can learn a lot. Like the day to day life of a dentist, general anatomy and health of the oral cavity, general procedures performed by a GP, how to treat people/patients, and how to run a small business/practice. It is really up to you!

Thanks for the comment. I'm making an appointment to visit a specialist but not sure what should I expect. Those are some insightful thoughts. thx!
