i never intended to take a year off. at least until i took the mcat the first time and got a 26. this was also after a kaplan class. so i studied all summer while working a research position, took it in august and got a 27 (i ran out of time in ps and cried basically the rest of the test). so because of my low mcat score and my mediocre gpa (3.57) i decided the only thing i could do was take a year off cuz i would have no chance in allopathic school. so then tcmc in scranton opened and i applied there. i didnt get in. so what do i do? obviously i have to take the mcat a third time. but do i do a post bacc? do i work a research position for a year? i'm soooooooo lost. and somewhere in there i ahve to take the mcat again.

any advice would be much appreciated!

your gpa isn't that bad...mine is worse heh. I say find/take a researching job and study hardcore for the MCAT. Another positive would be to beef up the resume with any holes that you see. Well, that's my plan at least hehe.

i completely agree, re-take the MCAT. many people have bad experiences with the MCAT, so you're not alone. study very hard for the next one, and take plenty of timed practice tests. this will simulate the test day conditions and hopefully prevent a similar experience from happening again. the MCAT is a very doable exam. it's just about how much work and preparation you put into it. good luck.

I think applying to more than one school is also a good idea if you want to reapply again 👍. Also do try to improve your MCAT. Have you considered applying DO? I know that MD and DOs are not that different and a lot of people can save themselves the trouble of having to reapply over and over again if they choose the DO route.
