hi friends

i'm a foreign trained dentist from India. i have a BDS degree,GPA-3.69,TOEFL (cbt)-263 & a part 1 score of 90% avg..the best for me would be to try for the International dentist program.but i really cant afford that kind of money without a greencard & a co-signer.i want to try for one of the residency programs.but without any outstanding credentials (such as a research experience, paper presentation) is there any possibilty of me being admitted? i 'm utterly clueless ...could anyone suggest me what to do...
your input would be much appreciated..
Thnx..

i've posted the same in 'dental residency' section also,so that someone might help me.

hai, I understand yur situation but every one are in same boat, i think u should try for programs like radiology, oral patho , oralmedicine, these r also paid programs but not as much as International Dentist program further u can join as unv faculty but u will not get any licence to practise Dentistry. u have good stats u can even try for university AEGD programs like unv of rochester or some other unv , here u r paid with little stifund and no need to pay any fee, further u will be eligible to give WERB with DEANS letter, with this u can only practice in few states. But remember one thing there is nothing for free here especially in US u have to spend some money.

thanx a lot for replying.i'll try & apply for the programs u've mentioned.though its non-clinical,i still want to be in the dentistry field...my closest friends and relatives are already talking about a career change !! that's what bothers me..let's see what's awaiting me......
thnx again tummala..

You also can apply of Working visa permit & tell them I am needed in the rural areas. Keep in contact with me as I am monitoring the different States legislations for FTDs. Also an alternative root is to apply for research.Th e only thing is you will bored our of your mind.

besides Rochester, what other AEGD programs open the gate for licensure? I've also heard that you need to have US Green Card to be eligible for licensure? Is it true.
