People kept asking me what specialty I want to go into. And I kept saying I don't know. Now I finally know. I've decided to go into radiology. I'll still tell people I don't know until I do a radiology elective.. So what do I need to do now? I hear that some students are already signing up for step2 a year ahead. But me, I never do that so far ahead because I am not ready for it. And I do not know how important is it for residences? And does it take more time to study for it than step1? Meanwhile we take shelfs.. So after I am done with my IM rotations I will take shelfs. I bought the books to study for the shelf. But I have not had much time.. I am mostly focusing on cardio and have not touched much of anything else. Is a book such as StepuptoMedicine similar to Goljan but for 3rd year? So I should just find time to read it on the weekends?? I do not have time to read on the weekdays. There was more much time for studying in ms1&2. Right now even if it's easy and I don't do much at the hospital I am still there on my feet 8-12hrs per day.. So when the weekend comes I work out and get drunk.
And how important is step 2 cs? Good idea to postpone it until the very end of year 4 if I am afraid that I"ll fail it? Can you graduated med school without passing step 2 cs? Thanx.
