Medical What do I need to do to get accepted into US residency program?

Probably a long post but please bear
I'm a second year medical student in India.... I will be finishing my med school in 2023 and I wish to get a residency in USA after med school here. Now I'm an Indian... Born and raised, I have no close relatives or family in USA , I will started studying for the usmle exams very soon and want to know what else should I be doing to make sure that I get into a good program in the US .. and what are my chances of getting accepted in a surgical residency.... I have no visa or a green card. I know it's kind of a long shot for me but I'd still like to give it my best!

Check the international medical graduate forum for specific advice. I would also see if any graduate medical programs have observership programs for international physicians that you would qualify for.
