Alright, first thing is first- you're going into second year. Just work on getting the best grades possible. Come the start of Junior year, ask us about the MCAT- it has changed a lot as of late, and we're still working out the best way to tackle it. Generally though, EK+TBR had been the standard in the past for self-study and Kaplan was the best way to supplement it if you wanted an in-person or lecture-based refresher.
One bad year does not a premed career ruin. And there's always the DO route with grade replacement if you still don't do as well as you'd prefer sophomore year. But you really need to focus on school if you plan to be a physician- 21 credits and several businesses won't get you where you need to be. As to physicians to shadow, I don't know what the best way to go about it is, honestly- someone else here probably has better advice than I do, as I worked in healthcare and it was easy for me to find a doc to be like "sure, follow me around for a couple days and I'll say you shadowed me." Your best bet is generally volunteering in something healthcare oriented then finding a physician there that seems okay and asking them to let you shadow them for a few days, or asking if they've got any friends that might be cool with you shadowing.
Ultimately, you can do this. You just need to re-orient your priorities and focus on your goal and you'll be fine. I mean, we've had far, far more intense cases (I believe
@jonnythan had a rough grade repair route AFTER his BS was completed and still got in) so just remember that you can do it, a couple bad semesters aren't the end of the world, and keep on moving forward.
