Assuming you applied end of your junior year, what are the lowest grades you can get and not lose your acceptance? I understand that schools may choose not to revoke your acceptance even if you get an F.
Just wondering as I choose my classes.

Which schools do what? Do any require more than all B's?

Thanks

I'm also curious about this. 🙂

There are many threads about this--the reason I won't direct you to any of them is because:

NOBODY KNOWS.

Simple as that.

95% of what people will tell you is speculation, 5% are wrong.

ask the schools

Thank you for your responses, but somebody does know. The reason I haven't gotten any responses is that most of those people aren't on this site.
Once you get accepted, you get a letter listing out what you MUST do maintain your acceptance. Maintaining a certain gpa and/or letter grade in each class is one of them. So for anyone who has receieved an acceptation, please do tell me which school and the requirements for grades.

Can you just please call the school and ask instead of speculating.

Speculation can be fun, but it also leads to stuff like global economic crises.

As awkward of a question as it is to ask an admissions person, i guess I'll have to call since it seems that among the thousands of people who have been accepted and read this forum, no one has been warned or dropped or seen any shred of evidence of any kind of stipulation from anywhere, ever.

As an aside though, why would they care what your final grades are? You already demonstrated you can get siht done, and as long as you finish the prereqs with high enough grades it shouldn't be an issue. But what do I know.

good idea! - - how about we all just keep doing our personal best???? aren't you proud of the work you do??? don't just look for corners to cut. keep up your best until you get that degree.

Let me just clarify that none of my worries revolve around 'cutting corners'.

I, like probably other people here, are in situations where we are trying our best in some extremely difficult classes with harsh (or no) curves while missing a lot of class for interviews and when all is said and done might not be able to get much more than a C.

Maybe the fear is irrational, but it would be pretty harsh if that kind of situation ruined an applicant post-acceptance.

In my opinion, you'd better keep your grades up 1st semester Senior year. What if you don't get an acceptance on December 1st? You may be looking at reapplying for next cycle, and you don't want to regret not doing well during your 1st semester Senior year. You'll want to keep it up for your academic update as well, for your post Dec. 1st interviews.

Now, if you get an acceptance Dec. 1st, you can probably coast the rest of the way with B's and C's. 2nd semester Senior year you can take classes like Anatomy and Histology and Biochemistry and not worry about the grades, but instead focus on knowing the material for dental school.

So you want me to call all 50+ schools and possibly not even get answers (don't know where I am applying yet)?
I am not asking for your opinion on what schools want for senior year, I want facts. Schools will tell accepted students what they must get to not lose their acceptance.

Exactly, my classes aren't a joke. I have to give it 100% and with interviews getting a good grade is slim. I don't think your fear is in anyway irrational.

That is true. Will plan for the worst. I don't know about C's...will schools let you get those?

i would really like the know the answer to this too. my semester is getting sort of ugly with the interviews... i have a week coming up with 3 quizzes/midterms and an interview... i guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope that they'll know we didn't get to concentrate on just studying this semester...

Ouch... I haven't been to a class for a two weeks and the exam is today but I'm elsewhere... Should be an interesting make up exam.

P.S. you never want to take make-up exams...

Just what I expected would happen to this thread. I started a thread similar to this one a month or so back. This is the typical sequence of events:
1)A good question worth answering
2)Other SDN users show their interest in the question
3)Tons of speculation without concrete evidence or data
4)People saying that it's not important
5)Change of the original topic
6)Overall frustration and a question left unanswered

I believe most school require at least of C and above. there are previous posts where you can just search (instead of calling schools) on this forum.

Some schools accept C- and some do not. it will depend on individual schools, but most schools will accept C and that is the lowest you can go (unless you fail a class that will not matter at all, then maybe you can talk to ADMIN and exlain the situation but at least for pre-reqs and major courses should be at least C or above)

Hahahaha, that should be stickied...

Thanks for new responses. C's are manageable...But a B might not be in some cases. Anyone know of any specific schools?
