Say for example you live in an area where there are like 2 dental schools within a proximity of 100 miles, how can you define another school farther from that as your "top school"? Do you look at pictures of the city/ schools? Was the city a previous visited area? Do you look at the schools 'stats' and claim it as your top choice? Just curious because when people ask me "what is your top school" I throw up some random school close by.

Mine was any school in any of the 3 cities I've lived in (Buffalo, LA, NYC).

my top schools are based on visiting the campus and getting a feel for the people there, the students, ect... I currently live in chicago so uic is a natural choice, next is marquette, and finally is iowa...

proximity to a strip club. i find it a good place to frequent and build a customer base as most strippers do not regularly see their dentist.

Northeast/Great lakes region and inexpensive.

i would say price and distance are very important.....

Price and cost of living. This is why Stony Brook and Buffalo are my top 2.

How 'bout wether or not they prepare you for the boards of the state that you plan on practicing in, quality of tuition, positive feedback from alumni and students, and how well they prepare you for your exiting exams or for specializing?

the school with the best reputation.

Cheap, cost of living, IMO. What you get out of the school is what you put into it. So if you go to a "lesser" school, do as much as you can to make it a great experience. Which schools prepare you to go out into the real world? NONE! While you may feel more confident in one school versus another, you're still way, way back from where you will get in even your first year out. Just make the most of the opportunities your school presents, and you'll be fine at any dental school.

UoP. Love the city and the weather. Money... D.D.S after my name should take care of it.

Gotta be careful there. Pacific's not as bad as it's made out to be money-wise, but San Francisco is an expensive place. If you're not careful with your money you could easily get in over your head here.

And of course, the same goes for pretty much everywhere else too. 👍

Haha. I didn't mean to sound like I would spend lots of money without thinking because of future DDS after my name. Of course not. UoP is my first choice for many reasons. But I should definately be careful wherever I go to.

Oh someone mentioned that they would go wherever they get accepted. I would rather wait a year and get into a school of my choice than just anywhere that accepts me. But that's me.
