Simple question, when stress builds what do you do?

For me it's the art of teamkilling. See, most people play videogames for fun. My fun is in ruining their fun. So say in Call of Duty, I make it my mission to screw over my team and make them lose, either by running over teammates for awhile, or blocking them in tightly packed rooms and letting the other team throw grenades in. If all else fails I spam offensive/controversial messages while people start crying and disconnect. Or exploiting glitches to kill my team and still increase my score to the point where I am obviously glitching and winning by a huge margin. Because I've gotten so good at it my new goal is just entering full 40-60 person servers and ruining the game and trying to make everyone leave out of frustration, and I'm usually successful.

Try it sometime, hilarious.

Occasionally I go running too.

Awesome typo..... not as funny as "herpes" instead of "heroes"....but still good.

i dont know about all that...haha...i just lift weights and then am too tired to be mad or stressed or etc. anymore 🙂

Complete douchebaggery...you sound like you're the type to delight in other people's suffering (or in this case annoyances) which makes me wonder why you chose this profession. Planning to be one of those Nuremberg quacks?

Back in the day, CS didn't show if a teammate hit you so at the start of every mission, I'd use my silenced pistol to pop someone in the head once so that they were practically dead before they ever met the enemy.

My suitemates in freshman year wanted to kill me too for planting bombs on their jeeps or mining the runways in BF 1942. Great times...

Those quacks at Nuremburg are the sole source of information that medicine wouldn't have gained any other way. Much of what we know about lethal doses or epidemiology come from what German and Japanese doctors did during the war. Doesn't make it right, but it's hard to take the moral highground when the Allies pardoned a lot of the leading enemy scientists for their data.

yeah, well. I went overboard there. But, damn is that annoying unless your the person doing it.

Which is why I'm the one doing it.

But when people join it it becomes all the funnier. With more people one can block all entrances and exits of every room, which provides good times for those involved.

In a way it's humanitarian, because when they leave the server they might actually do something constructive... or that's how I justify it

Actually, in CS office, if you have a buddy, you can block all exits out of the terrorist spawn if you get to them first. With FF off, there's nothing they can do except wait for their slaughter.

You have to make sure that the admins like you or you're donig it on a server you don't normally frequent.

Oh, in that case, I nominate you for some kind of medal of honor for your compassion for those with their a..ses glued to their computer chairs.

off-topic: This simply isn't true. Most of our (epidemiologists) code of ethics comes from the atrocities of Nuremberg (i.e. what NOT to do), and the data is not used (at least not in America). As far as citation of the data obtained in this unethical manner, it isnt prohibited but 99% of the informed scientific community will refuse to look at your research if you cite the Nazi experiments (assuming, of course, you ever manage to publish or get funding).
Much of what we do know about epidemiology comes from popular studies from John Snow, Rotterdam, Nurses Health Study, Golberger, and Doll & Hill, to name a few.

Sorry, but just to offer one example, a lot of the information we know about the transmission of the bubonic plague came from Japanese data after deliberate release of infected fleas in Chinese cities.

As well, the only known LD50 values for humans are from deliberate Nazi experimentation during the war.

If the data gleamed from the experiments were unimportant, why were leading Japanese biowarfare scientists and Nazi researchers granted full immunity and smuggled into the United States following the war.

Fun? Fun is for the weak.

yes, the only LD50 values obtained directly through human testing has been from Nazi experimentation (that's pretty much redundant). Does that mean those values are used? no. If you know of any, I really would be interested in looking into it.
From what I know, current toxicity levels are determined through in vitro experiments and animal testing (rats), though I'm pretty sure we're shifting to primarily in vitro.

I blow various kinds of smoke...

:luck:

because our government wanted the data for biological warfare purposes. Biological warfare is a far cry from medical care, and although the US government probably still uses the data, few to no medical researchers knowingly cite this data.

Ah you get a kick out of getting banned by servers.

Nazi scientists are cited enough that there needs to be an article written about how to cite them.

Towards the bottom.
thanks. This proves the point, there are obvious negative repercussions to citing Nazi experimention, so if youre going to do it there better be an exceptionally good reason if you want your research to carry any weight. Also, quoted from one of those articles: "For the most part, the experiments have been discarded due to their scientific failings along with their blatant ethical wrongs, but there are a few sections in the corpus of Nazi medicine that have survived because of their possible scientific use. The major group of experiments still up for discussion is the Dachau human hypothermia series."
LD50 landed in the discard pile.

Even the U.S. government has referenced Nazi data in the past. Consider the EPA's consideration of Nazi data on the effects of phosgene gas at the prelude to the Gulf War. They chose not to use the only scientific study of phosgene gas on humans not because of moral reprehension but because the Nazi data was seen (incorrectly) as incomplete. The EPA's decision to use animal models rather than human data was later seen as a poor decision that risked civilian lives at manufacturing plants domestically as well as coalition personnel in the region.

Taekwondo. Honestly, what's better than relieving your stress by kicking something?

hitting the Squat rack, bench press, stationary bike,

if that doesn't do it, I take a shower and sleep it off

Hmm, what's better than being in TKD and kicking something? I know! Practicing a useful martial art. I.e. Muay Thai, BJJ ....

Sorry dude, it's just too easy to rail on the ineffectiveness of the TKD flashy kicks in real combat situations.

I was talking about stress relief not getting into a street fight, buddy. I practice Olympic TKD because it's pretty damn cool, especially during competitions. In any case, effective kicking and punching, like a kick to the knee, is fine with me for self defense. In any martial art, you're practicing blocks and specific moves to be instinctive so there is a degree of effectiveness in them all.

If you get into a brawl, chances are the other guy is going for a tackle not a sparring match.

That brings back so many great memories of scamming people out of their unique and rare junk on Diablo 2...that was so much fun. Also: it was completley possible to steal someone's account seeing as how Blizzard didn't moderate anything. I used to log onto one kid's account every day just to get the endless whispers telling me I was an evil man, and that I ruined his life, etc. It was fun to see the whole spectrum of pleading, going from "I'll send you money," to "I am going to get my friend, who's like...a computer hacker, to destroy your computer." I'm guessing that it's not possible to steal people's accounts or items on WoW, or I might actually play it.
Speaking of which: have you tried stealing toys and/or candy from children? It's such a rush!

I really enjoyed the Dumb and Dumber harassment - that is my all-time favorite low-brow comedy.

He has like 50 of them.

I love it when he records others and plays it back to them

I'd say Bioshock but now that I'm done playing it, I truly have no idea.

hey how good is good is that game? i've contemplated buying it, but $50 is a lot of money to me right now.

Wow that's really expensive. It's one of the few games that I've ever played all the way through but it's a little on the short side (took me a while because of other commitments). I'd wait until you can get it for cheaper... $35? $40?

I was playing the PC version so I didn't exactly... spend... anything... ahem.

A hookah and Smash Bros Melee, both in unhealthy doses, get me through the rough times.

I'm calling U. Maryland tomorrow, 9am sharp.😉

Nah, thanks, I'll look into it next year or something when it's a "Greatest Hit" or something. Everything I've read says it's amazing, but it's just a matter of whether it's worth the money. Video game prices are ridiiiiculous.

I started playing Melee my freshman year and it has gotten me through undergrad. I'm now waiting on the new Smash Bros to get me through med school.

Yeah that's why I haven't bought a console. Well... that and the fact that I don't have a TV that would do these games justice.
