I have applied to optometry school in Sept. in hopes of getting accepted for Fall 2006 into PCO. I was invited for an interview in early October. 4wks later, Todd called me (he's the admissions counselor) and told me the committe hasn't made a decision yet and they want me to take the OAT again. Well I took the OAT on January 21. I went up 10 points higher, but its still not even a 300. I made a 290. I'm so nervous, because I haven't heard anything yet. I know my scores aren't good, but I have a 3.5 gpa and tons of experience in the field. Do you guys think there's hope for me!!!

I think you've got a really good shot at getting in. Your GPA is great, and you have lots of experience in the field...and I think that should make up for your OAT being a little low. Good luck 🙂!

The same thing has happened to me. I applied early and had my interview. My first OAT scores were low, 280, so Todd told me to re-take the test. I retook the test and I did better, 300, and my percentages went way up. I received an email again from Todd, telling me to retake the OAT for a third time. It's frustrating, especially because my gpa is a 3.95 and I have met all other criteria. All I can say is keep your head up and if it's what you really want keep trying, I am.

Are you trying to get in for the fall of 2006? I'm so frustrated, I still haven't heard anything. I can't believe he told you to retake it again. I know they have accepted people in the past with 300 OATs. We def are in the same boat! Are you going to take it again? This was my third time taking it, I just can't test well under pressure. Let me know what happens

Yea, I'm trying to get in for the fall of 06. I started this whole application process in august. I took the OATs in jan. so I am planning on retaking again in april. I signed up for the Kaplan online course to help improve my scores. It is really frustrating, but at least we know we are not alone 😳

I applied to PCO too. I had the interview already and they told me that they can't make a decision. They wanted me to write an essay about my optometric experiences before they make a decision. This application process is taking such a long time and it feels like they are getting more critical as the number of seats are getting slimmer.
