i hear if you are fit and work out often, it is a non-issue.
I think it would really suck to not be able to provide care to patients that you see really need it. For instance if they cannot afford it or don't comply with your treatment regime. I'm not saying that everyone should do exactly what their dentist tells them, but when you are truly recommending something for the best interests of your patient, and they don't agree for whatever reason - that could get frustrating. Because you really have no control over it.
Particularly in Canada where we see much of medicine socialized and then see the exact opposite for dental services - this frustrates me. To think that if you get punched in the gut you can go to the hospital and they will fix you for free, but then if u get punched in the face and some teeth get chipped, the hospital can only do so much. You will be referred to a dentist who will charge x amount which may not be affordable to everyone. It's a shame that such a vital healthcare is treated as a 'non-necessary' service and thus not publicly financed.
