I have worked in aquaculture for a long time using old (inefficient) methods, and my premedical education has opened my eyes to the frontier of genetically modified organisms. Now I feel like I really have an idea for industry I really need to run with which is why I would rather not try to do this through a university that will take my credit.
Outfitting the lab for the species I am working with (broodstock/growout tanks) is not an issue so I am not really asking for the specifics in that regard.
What are some good supply companies for biological enzymes and lab equipment? Good books to read? Do you need to be credentialled in some way for access to certain things I would need?
In the mean time, I'll do a lot of reading on the subject matter while I raise money, and maybe try to get a lab tech position somewhere to gain applicable experience.
Are there private laboratories you can "rent out" for periods of time?
