I got PAT:19 TS:19 AA:18. What do you think my chances are of getting into a good school? I am not sure if schools really care but the reason my AA is lower is because of my RC:15 since English is not my first language. which dental schools do you think are gonna give me a chance?

GPA:3.79

This is just my opinion.

Since English isn't your first language, they might look into your RC scores a lot more than usual. Schools might be worried bc dental school require a lot of reading and if you have a hard time comprehending the material you might not be able to excel.

Anyways your scores a below average for matriculation but its good enough with your GPA. If you have decent-good EC + LOR + PS you have a shot at a "good" school.

You have a very good GPA so you have a good shot, but like you said, it is probably the RC that is holding you back. You may want to retake to boost that score, but make sure you improve. If you can do that, you're now in a VERY good position.

i have very similar scores, 18 aa, 19 pat, 18 ts, with a 17 rc, and i am retaking early sept... i already sent in all my apps late june,

do you think it is hurting my chances by retaking at that time?

sry for thread steal

but im in the same boat as you and just a little uneasy about my score

Same here, I got a very low RC:16 but I managed to get 20AA 21TS 21PAT. Some schools have a cutoff for each section, like Uop and Indiana so you may not want to apply there. I got a rejection Email from Indiana (I still apply because I thought the rule may not strictly followed since I have got all other section above 20 but apparently I am wrong) With RC:15 and AA18, I would say your chance is slim. You might want to retake it. Hope this helps.

agreed, that RC score is more important than you think. It applies to everyone, international or not. See Doc Toothache's post on the importance of DAT sections to adcomms

what about the qr and pat section?

You guys are scaring me🙁!!! One of my friends got into a really good school last year with similar scores to mine but RC:13 and a 3.1 gpa but she had 5 years RDA experience, so I am not sure what the admission people really look for. I have 3 years of dental volunteer experience, so I hope it would be enough. I really don't know why some schools don't understand that If i could not comprehend things, my gpa wouldn't be 3.79. English is my 2nd language, so i read at a lower rate than native people, but the truth is when i got to the RC section, I freaked out a little bit and that is how you get a 15.

There is a reason to be worried. If you get a low RC and English isnt your first language, that sends a warning sign to schools and they are reluctant to accept you. Maybe your GPA will offset it, I dont know.

one thing on your application won't put you above or below anyone else. I don't think the dental school has time to go through thousands of applications and look for a little thing will distinguish you from the rest...thats almost impossible...

I am on the same boat with you RC 15 and similiar AA/TS/ PAT 18/19/18 Sgpa 3.72. I am still applying for this year but plan ahead to retake it on Nov. Btw, what school did your friend get accept last year? Good Luck

I got 24 for RC, and English is not my first language either. I think you should try to improve your DAT scores.

Congratz... you know, I came to this country after I got my high school diploma, I am guessing the only way you can get a 24 RC score is that you are either a genius or you came to this country at a younger age.
