Hey all,

I took the DAT last august and received an AA of 18 and PAT of 16. I have one more year of undergrad left. My GPA is 3.49, sc GPA is 3.36. I am retaking the DAT and was wondering if May 16th to June 30th is enough time to prepare. I will be putting in AT LEAST 6 hours of hard core studying a day. I want to be done with the DAT before mid july so i can turn my app. in early.

One more thing, for those who took the DAT the second time, what were the major differences you felt (ie, comfort level, stress, ease, etc).

thanks guys.

You should supplement your previous materials with new study aids for this time around. I dont have any other advice for ya since i ll be taking my test for the very first time in June of 08.

6 weeks...I think you would have to be VERY serious. No going out, no posting on SDN (like I'm doing while I study) and supplement new material so you get asked the same question a different way.
It can be done and you had a good score the first time so use what you can find. If you did just the blue book I would say get another book or maybe stick with ochem books and gen chem books for that portion. Reading could be scientific journals or even a book. Reading a book would help two fold, reading comp and interview.

6 weeks is very much doable but it also depends on how well you studied while you were taking your courses.....i studied from December 20th 07 till January 29th 08 (DAT on Jan 30th 08).....just 6 weeks with no preparation during the previous semester......
but while taking all my pre-reqs i had read the textbooks from cover to cover (even the irrelevant stuff) and that helped me a lot during those 6 weeks....but yes no outing, no work.....although i did spend time on SDN a lot😀

Thanks guys,

last time i took the kaplan course and it was a nightmare. A couple weeks before the exam i switched to shawms for bio and i think that helped me a lot. I hate kaplan for wasting my money.

For anyone out there trying to figure out the best way to study, IMO, it's the old fashioned way, grinding it out with textbooks and practice tests and long days. There is no way getting around this.
