What does everyone look like?

Dude... Best Ice cream/gelato I have ever had in my life was in the little square right next to the Trevi Fountain. The Colosseum and the Pantheon were amazing too... Then there was St. Peters and the Musee Vaticano.

I know what gelato place you're talking about too. Was in italy/Germany/Austria in '04. My blond pic from early in this thread was at some bar not far from the Trevi.

I also really enjoyed Poland a lot when I went. Spent just under two months there over Xmas/New Year's in 01-02. Good times, great people.

New Zealand really does rock. My first job out of grad school was in New Zealand (suburb of Auckland) and I can't wait to get back there. Someday I'll dig out my photos and scan them.

Here's some from the trip to Italy-Germany. The bridge I think is in Austria though - took it from the train. The rugby match is Italy vs. Scotland. The trees are actually from Dachau outside Munich

hahhaa

Hey I will revive this sucker if it means I finally get to post vacation pictures like everyone else. 😀

27 in...OMG 12 days. Now I feel old AND unaccomplished. 🙁 Thanks for the reminder.😉

Great thanks! I will be 30 in 8 days (see signature). So I'm older and even more unaccomplished. 😛

P.S. My husband just turned 40 on March 15 so he always makes me feel young. 😀

Sorry. The average age where I work is 20. I'm the "mom" to like, 600 kids passing out band-aids and neosporin (I should really gets some lolly pops). They make me feel old. Then I realize that I am the very last single person in my group of friends. You aren't unaccomplished. Married, kids, MPH...ringing any bells🙂.

Also, we should have joint birthday parties or something next year.

Yeah I understand feeling old compared to other people. I worked at Six Flags when I was 25/26. I assistant supervised kids in high school and my supervisor was 23. It felt really weird. Honestly, I don't think I'm unaccomplished I just don't have a career yet. And you definitely don't have to be married with kids to be accomplished. You got into med school!! An awesome one at that. You are more than accomplished. And a joint birthday party sounds awesome! I always wanted a big birthday party but we don't have any friends here. Oh and one of the guys I interviewed with and lives in this area has his birthday tomorrow. Next April will be nothing but parties!! :hardy::clap:

This is my dog.. he hates it when I study.. he doesn't understand why I'm not spending every waking moment paying attention to him. So he tried to steal my book when I went to the bathroom. 😛

Oh my gosh that's so freakin cute!!!! Since we're talking about dogs, I never miss a chance to show off my baby!

Ummm sorry my picture is ginormous. This always happens and I have no idea why. 😳

I think that might be the nicest thing anyone's said to me in a very long time! That was very sweet of you, thank you, you just made my weekend 😀
(and made me blush!)

That's a Southern gentleman for ya! 😉

It's just the photo's scale at the host site/location (1600X1200 pixels). You can scale it down on most photo hosting sites through photo editing features should you want to do so in the future.

Good pic and like your dog! 👍

hey.. no problem.. sounds fun.. a themed bbq!
haha
or another bbq around oktoberfest 🙂

I like the two bbq idea 🙂. The good thing is, Oktoberfest is actually the end of September. And there is a pretty good Oktoberfest celebration in Cincinnati, we went to it two years ago. Plus, one of the only three Hofbrauhouse restaurants in the world are in Cincinnatti, the original in Munich, Germany, and the third in Las Vegas. Some great German food, not to mention the beer... 🙂. Whos up for a road trip? But we have to go in traditional German dress. 😎

As a generic white guy, I'm pissed that I don't have a motherland to visit. My ancestors are from Europe, but I don't even know what part.

Heh, I'm 50% German, and after that, I'm a mutt. Mostly Irish, but some American Indian, English, and who knows what else.

You say she looks sassy but I say she looks drunk. :meanie: By the way miggs I won't bring up the age thing again, I think, I just like to tease you a little bit. 😉

it's all good. 😀
lol, we were good that night, we didnt drink.

I uh..can't get it to work

/sheepish

Rose I am going to be in agreement with you on this one here bud. Hell, I think I am gonna get some lederhosen( or how ever you spell those pants) Just to get a hold of one of those MUGS...

hahhaa

Ditto! The 1/3 German in my is ALL about the leiderhossen and dirndl!! The first beer I ever had was in the market in Munchen along with a nice bretzle and weisswurst!! There's a German deli in the town I work in that sells really good weisswurst and I can make a bretzle that goes really well with my homebrewed Weissenbier!! Who's up for German food!?

Nice to see fellow ruggers. My husband used to play for a Division III club in Chicago area but now coaches high school rugby. He's an old boy now and trying to save his back LOL. But we do have the Setanta network running nonstop in our house 😛

I'm totally jealous! I thought about buying Setanta, but I'm having a hard time justifying the $$...but I may get it anyway...

Nate.

Since not everyone has spent their lives travelling to myriad other countries, I propose that the rest of us post normal pictures of us doing normal things. To that end, I post a picture of me rollerblading this afternoon at a park in SC.

IMG_1541-1.JPG

In Austin, we've got a 3-mile track called the Veloway. It is for cyclists and rollerbladers only. It is very flat and easy, so I use it for recovery rides sometimes.

Anyway, so I was out riding one day, cruising along at around 20 mph, and some fat dude on rollerblades passed me like I was standing still. I had no idea you could go that fast on those things.

Yeah. The park in the picture costs $1.00 for admission, so sometimes we go blading around housing instead. It's all hills. Oh my god, I feel like I'm taking my life into my own hands. The curbs are NOT wheelchair or rollerblade friendly, the stroller ALWAYS gets caught. I feel like I'm giving the baby whiplash, poor little thing. There really isn't a great place to go around here. In Dallas they have White Rock Lake. Perfect for all outside activities. Haven't found that in South Carolina yet. It's still good exercise, though. And since I injured my knees and ankles, it's about all I'm allowed to do.

It's a good deal for my husband - he can tivo the matches, watch them, and them put them on DVD/VHS for his high school players to watch. He uses a lot of them for instruction, both for regular season and for summer 7's.

I think we pay 12.99 on top of the monthly fee for Setanta, but it's better than going to Chicago to Fado's or somewhere similar showing the individual matches for $20 a head! 😱 Although I think they may also have a Sky network feed they have to fund, but still, we get ALL the matches, even the premier ones (but they may be in the middle of the night, real-time in say, New Zealand, Oz, or South Africa).

Yeah, but going so fast on rollerblades makes rocks and other small obstacles on the path very scary. I've taken more than my share of spills because of that when I used to rollerblade and play roller hockey with my friends out on the road...

yeeeeeeeeeeeeah. You can really get up a lot of speed, I skate as often as I can and I've taken some serious spills.

We have the Greenway here. The path is on the water and oh-so-scenic. It's one of my favorite places to go although it can get crowded sometimes.

I have crash stories. But it had more to do with skater error than a lil' ol' pebble. By skater error, I mean me. I love to blade but am not the most skilled person out there.

At least you can stay up on those dang things. Maybe I should rollerblade when I am pushing my son around. That way I can prop myself up. Many of you dont know this...but when an old man like me falls down, something usually breaks, and there is no way in hades I am sitting on a donut all day long. hahaha

I tried roller skating for the first time a few weeks ago. I don't think I've ever done anything so scary in my life. I could barely move and I kept falling down. I was worried that when I fell I would take multiple people out with me.

I learned the same thing skating that I did when I tried skiing- I just don't do well with things other than shoes on my feet.

The secret to not falling is all about centering yourself. Alot of people try to skate without recentering their bodies on the skates. You can't skate standing straight up. Then all the weight is on your heel meaning you're constantly going to be trying to catch yourself, overcorrecting and busting something.

The craziest incident I had was when I was first learning to blade. It was a gym class at school and the teacher was a competitive roller skater so she was moving us along giving us all the great pointers and stuff. Anyway. I don't know what caused it but I stood up on my skates, fell straight down on my ***, hitting my tailbone and 'blacking out'. Not in the sense that I passed out. I couldn't see. For several minutes. I was conscious and moving, etc. But couldn't see. It was the freakiest thing I've ever had happen.

The only other crazy spill I've had was hitting a bridge tie. I wasn't paying attention. Normally, I jump the ties. This day, nono. I hit it and went skidding across the bridge. and promptly jumped up, looking around to make sure no one saw me.

Oh man! 🙁
Yeah, many a time I looked around in hopes of no one looking at me. 😀

You did notice the stroller in the picture, right? I don't have kids. The little girl is my friend's daughter. I only rollerblade when we can bring her with us so I don't fall on my *** and make a total fool of myself. I grew up in the middle of nowhere, so there was no place to do things like this. I only started rollerblading about a month ago. I may be ready to give the stroller (and baby) back to her mother. We'll see.

so is it a coordination issue... this... skater error you speak of?

So, my mom has recently been on this photography kick...and has been taking pictures of everything. I opened my email a few weeks ago to find these ridiculous pictures of my cats you are about to see. haha...And they are both boys!

This is Jack...and yes those are pearls. I got really mad at her for that.

This is Buster! Isn't he adorable?!

Told you they were ridiculous.

My idea of skating:

longggggggggggboard.jpg

I love my longboard.
Some buddies of mine always go to some of the parking garages down on campus and ride the longboards down in the evenings when there arent cars there. I've been meaning to try it for a while now.... It looks like so much freaking fun.

nice cats allisome. The pearls are a nice touch. I'm sure they're loving it.... 🙄

It looks like a large white hairy cat is eating Buster. It's like posh animal planet in Manhattan.

Nice! Yea, I checked with Dish Net after I posted and they charge $14.99/mo for Setanta, which I can't really justify. There's a Div. I team here in Denver so there's a game about once a week on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain that I DVR. There is also a newish Scottish pub here in town that I noticed has a subscription to Setanta and my DVR matches. They also have a WONDERFUL selection of single malt Scotches...😀

You know I love the iphone, but I have to say that you are wise to wait for the new models to come out because I have some issues with mine that I hope they are going to fix with these new ones i.e. you can't text to more than one person at a time, the touch-screen qwerty takes some getting used to, and there are few programs that are compatible with the iphone such as G-chat. But I have do love it and think it's a great investment so I hope you get one 😀
FYI: the latest update for the iphone allows you to text to more than one person😀

I liked the transition from photos of people, to scenery photos from trips, to cat fansy....only fans of Tennessee schools could do that...j/k

Here is a picture from a few years ago.

You'd do great in EM. If CPR is not working, taking off your shirt should do the trick.

Where are all the Asians? I haven't seen any 🙁. Any Asian give me a holla 🙂
