Eh. Not watching it. I was over there during the Euros once. It was fun. I can't watch it by myself though. If I'm with other people then it gets a bit more fun. I get way too bored normally. The flopping and magic spray kill me. I've always been a fan of sports with much more violence.

Lol, i dont think anyone is trying. we are just messing around. we love this thread and its here to stay, with so many views (almost 40,000), this thread is the third most viewed thread in the pre-osteopathic forum. On top of that, this thread has only been alive for less than 3 months compared to the others that have marginal more views and have been alive for almost a year. I, the creator of this thread, am proud of it. Plus, many of us who are posting and getting to know each other will be classmates next year, its just a way for osteopathic students to get to know each other before we hit the books in August. Its harmless fun.

The Pre-Osteopathic section of this SDN forums is an area for "Premedical student discussion." What this entails is premedical students discussing topics that may be or seems relevant to them. If an Admin or Moderator deems a thread or post at hand to be inappropriate, they have the power to delete a thread at their utmost discretion. The regular user only has the right to send a complaint to an Admin or Moderator regarding a thread or post, and thus the matter is no more their responsibility & is in the hands of authority.

Rule No. 4 of the SDN Forums is stated as such:

Stay on topic. Our membership encourages open discussion and debate as long as it relates to the topic of the thread at hand. Posts which do not relate to the original purpose or topic of the thread may be moved to a more appropriate location.

The purpose of this thread, which has been previously mentioned, is "What does everyone look like?" I would say nearly all posts thus far have been relevant to the topic at hand and has been met with no complaints (to my knowledge). As to the appropriate location, I would remind you again that this is the Pre-Osteopathic section & provides an area of discussion for premedical students. In addition, this is a valid opportunity for future medical professionals to acquaint themselves with each other and provide a basis for 'Networking'. The future benefits of such a discourse is highly advantageous for all, especially since we do rely on referrals in part regarding the business of medicine.

I hope that provides a measure of clarification for you, roc.
 
You could cite rules or you could just not click on the thread. It is one thread. If you don't want to participate then don't join. It isn't like you overheard the thread title whisper something anti-semitic in your ear. You click, you read, and you whine. Get over it man. I don't like all the "Any shinto armenian brazilian transexuals with bad teeth and circulation problems" threads...but they exist. I just don't go into them.

If i could afford to go anywhere during this gap year, I would go to:

  1. Guam
  2. Hawaii
  3. Costa Rica
  4. Miami
  5. Caribbean
I bet there is some sort of volunteer mission I can find online...do you guys know of any?

dude you should totally do it! im sure you can find one in europe. maybe ask your undergrad for help/advice. and if all else fails, take out a loan for like 3-4K and go backpacking. whats another 3-4k of debt after med-school? lol gluck

That's actually a VERY good point!
$3-$4K will seem like pocket change compared to the debt I am about to accrue !
unfortunately, im not a big fan of europe though, no offense to anyone--just "not my cup of tea," so to speak.

i hope things work out for you...I know I'd personally hate to have passed up a possible opportunity to become a doctor because I held some unsubstantiated neurosis about the initials after my name. That's just me though, and osteopathic medicine is certainly not geared towards everyone.

In all fairness though, there is one one thing I will find mildly discerning during my potential training as a DO. And it would be the possible inability to scientifically validate WHY osteopathic manipulative medicine works as well as it does. I believe it may simply be a case of our scientific approach that needs catching up and not the actual treatment. It would be nice to fully understand it one day though, and have it solidly accepted by ALL in the medical world.
After getting off on that little blurb, is anyone here interested in doing a dual degree DO/PhD program? I am considering putting in the application to TMDSAS just so I can apply to TCOM's dual degree program.

PS: this was of no offense to supertrooper. I just find it odd how someone can have such passion to be a doctor but yet be picky about how that dream is realized. The quote, "beggars can't be choosers," comes to mind--especially with the competitiveness of medical school admissions these days!

I think it is sad that a person with a post count of 30 and very limited exposure to the boards is bitching and moaning about something that could easily be avoided by not looking. One important component of leadership is assigning people to do their job and letting them do their job in faith that it will be done correctly. Let the moderators do their job and you do yours...unless your job is being a tool, in which case...don't.

i was shocked w the Oranje 3-0 over the Italians. i had Italy slated to win that for sure, first big upset i think. especially 3-0. it's like there wasn't even an italian team on the pitch! and the dutch didnt even have Robben, guess they didn't need him!

i had France over Romania... i guess a tie is ok.

I had holland over italy but not by that much. it was crazy, i didnt get to see the france romania but i did see the italy and holland and it was a pretty good match, but italy seemed to be missing something.

greece plays tomorrow!!!!!

ugh. now we gotta beat russia and hopefully spain later on. i think ill be in greece before the 22nd of this month, so hopefully greece can start doing better so that I can party there if we do win the euro again.

hehe.. spain murdered russia, though i dont know how the greeks will play. they need to step it up, the russians might be down trodden without pogrebnyak. either way i think that will be a good game to watch. esp if you are there to catch some of the later rounds 👍

At this point, i think its time for greece to beat russia and by a few goals to equal things out later on in case it does come down to who had the better goal average to pass onto the next round.

I would recommend Hawaii (the main island) from your list. If you can't afford it now, try at some point. Well Worth the trip, just make sure your significant other is not pissed at you or you could wind up being a sacrifice to Pele.

thanks. im pretty excited. i just got my new social security card after it was stolen a few months ago so thats taken care of. i was denied twice by citibank the past few weeks for a gradplus loan because of one stupid derogatory remark that shouldnt even be there, but i just got my dad to cosign a loan and i was actually approved a few minutes ago. i guess 6 figure month income was all they needed, im kinda mad cause i did not want to have my dad get involved but oh well, at least there goes one of my headaches. i just found out my grandpa has prostate... "C", so i am going to spend time with him when i arrive in athens tomorrow, i think im going to take them on vacation for 3-4 days to my grandmas island, she hasn't been back there in 40+ years, its called Samos and only 1 mile from Turkey.

Anyways, does anyone know if i get into western, and wanted to apply again, can i just call citibank and tell them the new school or would i have to reapply again all over?
