What does it feel like to get an A in a science class

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oceanography brah.

I'm getting my first non-A in a science class this semester (ochem) and it feels like death. I actually don't know how I'm going to go on living. It's quite sad.

There should really be a feature on SDN to be able to delete certain threads from one's view.

I have a better suggestion. There should be a master sticky thread where threads like these get moved, locked or deleted. Well we already have the sticky but the fact that a swarm of premeds are lazy, controversial and neurotic overwhelm the poor mods. So we just shun OP and pretend the thread never existed

Cause I will never have that feeling? :arghh:
Feels good. Looking forward to the end of this semester when I can see a big row of As.

Oh wait but if you're not pulling As you're probably also a virgin so my b nvm
I'd say the opposite; if you're pulling all As you're probably not getting as much action as the bro who skates by with Bs and parties.

I disagree. It feels like sex.

do you even lift, brah?

No dating at my school happens before GPAs are exchanged. "Can I get your number" has a totally different meaning
Outside of your school, and a handful of others, I'd say the people who are driven to get an A are the people who aren't getting laid.

Highly disagree with above bolded statement.
If getting an A is like sex for you, your life must be miserable because sex is mind blowing.... or at least it should be...
😉

Not everybody is Ron Jeremy. 🙁

This sounds douchey, but I agree. I never feel good about A's. I only feel like s*** about other grades.
I feel like crap when I get anything other than an A but it feels great to get an A. I put in the work all semester and the product of my effort was that A.

Highly disagree with above bolded statement.

Both are great, but it's apples and oranges comparing the two.

It's because getting an A for me IS mind-blowing at a grade deflating school.

Yeah, but the lady wouldn't. The poster in question may be a lady with a male friend like yourself. 😉
Apparently all the lady wants to know is what it feels like to get an A in a science course.
She don't want the D.

Whatashame.

Gotta play it smooth. Studying for the A can lead to her studying the D.

I was actually thinking about it the other day...I don't think I ever truly "earned" an A in any of my undergrad science classes. I always ended up with an A due to the curve or some extra credit points. I never rocked every exam so brilliantly that I ended up with a 95% average and didn't have to worry about curves or extra points.

Hardcore science classes where you get an A- freaking amazing, especially when you end up with the highest grade in the class.

Easy science classes: not as exciting

Awesome.

I've gotten B's in all my science classes so far except my A in Intro Bio 2. But I was damn proud of that A!

Feels like getting A. I don't understand this question.

That comparison makes no sense at all!

That would be like if I tried to get an A in that one really hard-to-get class, but kept getting shot down incessantly. So I keep trying to get to know the class better, but so does everyone else, and I know I don't stand a chance. Then I go after easier classes, and occasionally get As that doesn't really feel satisfying, because I knew all along that I wasn't interested in getting an A in these other classes. The whole time I have to wonder whether I'll ever be good enough for the harder class, and I drift through periods of self-loathing and disillusionment until I can leave the whole thing behind.

Yeah, that would be a ridiculous comparison.

...😢

It feels like I didn't fail.

An A+, however, feels great. They were given very rarely at my school and not even by all professors. While they counted the same for your GPA (like on AMCAS), it was deliberately done to give you special recognition.

Sounds like kindergarten. Did you also get a gold star and a trip to the prize box?
