what does it mean if a school has yet to make a decision on you?

Hey y'all,
I had an interview at a school and have not heard from them as of yet.. When I called up the school, the director of the school said that my application status was still "invited for interview/under review". Can anyone help me understand what this means? Does it mean I still have a chance to get an acceptance soon, or does this mean I could I be rejected or waitlisted? I know the school is continuing to do interviews... Also when I asked about what else I can do to better my chances the director said that the committee has already voted on me. I am very confused and I ask because I sincerely wish to go to this school. Any feedback is appreciated!!!

then it means it is still under review.. possibly until all the interviews are done. I have read on SDN that sometimes they try to finish all the interviews and then make a decision.. to find competitive candidates but I am sure someone can confirm if I am right or not.

i have the same question:
if you talk to the director of dental school program on phone and ask the status of application (Invited for interview status on aadsas for 3 months) and if director says you will find out in april about acceptance/rejection/waitlist and then director asks if you r accepted somewhere else, how many interviews and their status. Is it safe to assume that the director hinting towards rejection by inquiring if accepted somewhere else?

yes I think maybe until after all of the interviews are done.... The director also told me something along the lines of "we are still interviewing so I can't promise you anything" I think that means we are still looking if we can find better candidates than you, and if not u might be accepted

I have no clue... maybe they are assessing the likelihood that you will choose their school if you get accepted? Idk though this is just a wild guess....
