I'm in a tough situation. This is why:

1) Even though I wrote that I will be completing a masters degree by May, it will probably take me much of the summer to complete. I should have it before matriculation though. Will this get my acceptance letter rescinded? Should I contact my school and let them know beforehand or should I just send an updated transcript when the degree is ready? Also, what if i am able to complete all requirements for the degree, but will be granted the degree officially after I matriculate?

2) I just got a C+ in a medically related science class. Im super worried about this one affecting my acceptance. My overall GPA should be 3.0 + though.

3) How does a school go about rescinding an offer? Does it bar me from reapplying there again?

1) This past year I didn't defend my thesis until early June so I technically didn't have my degree conferred until I had already started med school. I just had my PI draft a letter saying I had completed everything and was good to go and my whole committee signed it. That was good enough til my degree got here.

2) if you're already accepted your grades don't matter as long as you get Cs

3) chill

No - even if you don't get ur masters - you will be fine. As long as all your pre-reqs are done.
It's ok. As long as you don't flunk all your classes and cause a 1.0+ GPA drop... You will be fine.

For many schools it would not be okay. Having completed the requirements but waiting for the degree conferment is fine, but one cannot go into some of the schools with another graduate degree half done. It depends on the school.

Agreed with @FriendlyFH - I finished my MS last summer and I had to get written proof from my PI BEFORE applying that I was on pace to finish and would be able to matriculate the following year. If I hadn't have finished I would have been in deep mess.

Most schools I've been in contact with do not care if I complete my masters or not. I spoke with over half of the MD and DO programs and only a couple said I would have to finish it

Which school was this for? I applied to a bunch of schools and not one asked for this

I don't remember which were the schools. I called the schools which I was considering a few years back because of the concern at the time. It's usually not explicit listed anywhere but when I called they said they would not pull someone out of any ongoing graduate degrees (in other word, one must finish what he or she had started before enrolling) and some have said it as if it's a matter of course. I called mostly the top 15 schools though.

so, i have a question. last semester i had three really tough science courses and was involved in too many extracurricular activities (still hadn't learned my lesson). i ended up with two A's, one B, a C, and a dreaded D+. i've never made a D before. however, the course i made the D in was not a pre-req for med school, nor was it a pre-req for my major. it was a required 2 hour course to complete my minor. my degree program allows this D to be a passing grade, as the gpa requirement for the minor is collective rather than based on individual courses. i'm afraid that medical schools may rescind my acceptance (if i get accepted) after seeing last semester's transcript. i've made some life changes this semester and i believe that a 4.0 is definitely possible to achieve in order to make up for last semester. since i'm graduating in may, i don't really have time to retake the class. any thoughts on this?

Usually when you get an acceptance, the school will outline the requirements for keeping that acceptance in the acceptance letter. Re-read your acceptance letter and see if it mentions anything about maintaining certain grades.

right, thank you. i guess i was just wondering if this could potentially qualify as a "significant decline in academic performance" and further result in eradication of an acceptance. i guess anything is possible.

Yeah I just mean that it depends on the school and we can't really answer this for you. But I hope it works out!
