What does "No ACPE status" mean exactly?

I'm thinking about applying to westcoast university but the "No ACPE status" under its name kinda freaked me out. Under the pharmcas directory they are listed as candidate status btw. So how would me attending a non ACPE status school effect me?

I have no real advice for you regarding this matter, but you should read into Midway College or Hawaii College of Pharmacy. It is unfortunate that their students had to go through so much trouble and some may never even see the light of day inside a pharmacy because they did not get accredited.

West Coast University's Doctor of Pharmacy program has been authorized by the Board of Directors for an on-site evaluation to be scheduled in 2014 for consideration of Precandidate accreditation status. Authorization of an on-site evaluation for consideration of Precandidate accreditation status does not carry with it nor imply an accreditation status. The on-site evaluation is authorized solely for purposes of gathering additional information in furtherance of an accreditation decision. The Board will consider Precandidate accreditation status at the regularly scheduled meeting, which occur in January and June of each year, following the on-site evaluation. Precandidate Status
Granting of Precandidate accreditation status brings no rights or privileges of accreditation as associated with either candidate status or fully accredited status. Precandidate accreditation status indicates only that planning has taken into account ACPE standards and guidelines and suggests reasonable assurance of moving to the next step, that of Candidate accreditation status. Since Precandidate accreditation status does not create any rights of accreditation under the ACPE standards, it is the opinion of ACPE that graduates of programs of Colleges or Schools of Pharmacy that bear Precandidate accreditation status do not meet the educational requirements for licensure.

Basically it means it's a gamble. If they don't receive pre-candidate status by the time they enroll their first class, they essentially are shut down because they cannot take students. Well, they CAN, but those students are not eligible to sit for the NAPLEX after graduation....aka, they cannot be pharmacists ever.

Avoid at all costs. It is always a major gamble.

The simplest answer is: it technically isn't a school of pharmacy. It's someone's imagination/dream.
