is there a description of what a toxic child look like? Stuff I've been reading simply say "if child looks toxic do blah" w/o really describing what being toxic means.
Typically, a toxic looking kid will look either pale, gray or cyanotic and will be lethargic. They could have tachycardia, tachypnea and/or poor cap refill. If the kid looks toxic you worry about sepsis among other things
Toxic is a nonspecific term for a child who doesn't look well and has the potential for imminent decompsenation. It's a feel thing. Comes with experience.
