What does XL stand for?

What does XL stand for? As in Glucotrol XL?
Do you not know how to use google?😱
I just don't understand why people waste time making a thread for questions like these, you can get the answer right away if you just use a search engine.
e.g. If you type "Glucotrol xl" into Google, the very first result will give you the answer to your question.
yeah, extended release. i'm just buggin' cuz it's "eXtended reLease" rather than Glucotrol ER which makes more sense to me. They should just standardize acronyms, unless I'm missing something that it's labeled XL for another reason. If that's the case, now I'm curious...can anyone shed light on this?

Hmm, fair enough. I'm waiting for Viagra XXX.
the drug I hate dealing with the most is Diltiazem. It has so many forms like CD, SR, XT, XR, etc...
Nifedipine has a few forms too.

There was a proposal on the table a while back to standardize the acronyms, but I don't remember what happened to it...yeah, extended release. i'm just buggin' cuz it's "eXtended reLease" rather than Glucotrol ER which makes more sense to me. Someone probably owned a trademark for the terms they wanted to use.
It costs around $300 to $400 to trademark a word.
I remember Spansules... I also know terminology used in a few other countries. 😀
Mind you, I am not the one complaining. All this tickles my inner linguist. 😀
