Which economics class do you take as a prereq? I read that macro would be better to take but is there a preference? I've been looking and I just see economics but I wanted to double check if either one is specific so I don't waste my time and money.

Thanks!

it varies from school to school. some require macro, some require micro, some dont require either.

check the requirements of the schools you want to apply to. the pharmcas school pages is a good place to see needed prereqs
http://www.pharmcas.org/collegesschools/directoryalpha.htm

if the schools you're applying to dont use pharmcas, then check that schools website where i'm sure you'll find a list of prereqs they want you to take.

if a school just lists economics as a requirement i would assume it means macro in that its more big picture basic economics, but there's no harm in contacting the school asking which they want.

If not specified on the school's website, it is best that you call the school directly to clarify which type of economics class they require.

I got to pick. I chose macro. It was an easy A. It provided a good background of the factors that affect the large scale economy (hence "macro") and is probably good for beginners who aren't planning to run their own business, but want just a basic knowledge of economics. Micro, I'd imagine, focuses more on the economics of a single business entity, and my guess would be better aligned for someone interested in running their own business or a business for someone else.

Aw really? I was planning to take Macro, but USC's course equivalencies page says they ONLY take microeconomics.. don't you go to USC?

I took micro as an ap class in highschool and that was accepted.

yeah. It used to be either micro or macro. I guess they changed it. (That's why I don't answer USC prereq questions directly anymore😳.)

Thanks all! I think I'm going to take macro and hope for the best. We'll see what happens!

I took macro, very easy, but then again I had an easy professor. It really depends on the professor, just like every other class.

my professor is horrible...
of course Im still working hard.
