I have a really old set of EK books that did well for me when I took the MCAT back in 2006. Are they too dated for use now? Or are they mostly the same as the latest edition?

Should be fine. Physics, chem, ochem haven't changed a bit. The only thing that really changes is cell/molecular bio, but the basics haven't changed.

You're fine all the way back to 2003's 5th edition. I'm not sure about the versions before that. They're probably okay, but I wouldn't go back too far. Make sure you get NEW practice material and NEW FLs.

I'm using the 2005 edition for content review. Aside from gross grammatical errors, it seems to be pretty comprehensive. Though, the practice AAMC exams are really the bread and butter to preparing for the MCAT.

The most recent EK books are from 2007.

Although the overall content may not have changed, the emphasized topics have.

For instance, the MCAT no longer asks about elimination reactions (check AAMC.org/students/MCAT for the details).

Help yourself and buy a 2010-2011 edition. I recommend Princeton Review. They are publishing their true MCAT materials for the first time this summer.

All of them, since EK has yet to put out good books. I think they are the most over-rated of the major study materials.
