Any suggestions for haircuts for secondary photos and interviews for men? Buzz cut's a bad idea right? It sounds lame but I don't know what to ask the barber. What is considered a professional hair cut? 2 on the sides three on top? Any specific ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Doctors are funny looking and your interviewer won't expect you to be any different. Just don't shave a swastica into your head and I think you'll be fine.

lightning bolts on the other hand...

Haircut depends on face shape to some extent. Any particular style isn't considered professional or interview appropriate over he others. Just find a cut that looks good on you and run with it.

Also... I heard that shaving "DR" on the back of your head will earn you extra brownie points with AdComs. 😉

get a tattoo with the name of the school you are interviewing at.. that shows a lot of commitment

I would try and grow out a mullet. It will let the ad coms know that you are all business with a hint of party animal.

oh and make sure it's clearly visible.. do it on your neck or some place like that

A friend of mine cut off all of his hair for med school interviews. He said "yeah, I can't go in there looking like a stoner."

It was pretty funny. But I wouldn't worry about cutting your own hair...as long as it's a color found in nature and looks relatively normal I think you're ok.

Honestly, just go in there being yourself. Of course wash your hair and wear it neat, but the way you would wear it....not the way you think they would like to see it. I mean, if the med school doesn't like you the way you are, then why would you want to go to their school anyways? Plus, I don't think the interviewer is going to go all 'fashion-police' on you. They're there to interview you, not your hair.

anyways...that's just what i think

Personally I always get my hair cut really short before an interview. My family has this ridiculous thick hair gene in it. If I grow my hair to any decent length, I'm afraid it'll make any receding hairline interviewer who sees it unconsciously resentful 🙂

I know quite a few jobs that won't hire you if you come to an interview with any facial hair and/or look anything but clean cut.

I don't know if medical school interviews are at all similar to job interviews in the business world.

"found in nature"
found in nature in human hair I suppose you mean?
lots of colors are found in nature......
hen red, peacock blue, orange well oranges

speaking of hair color, girls, even if its a "natural shade" any thoughts on color

for example sometimes naturally red colors of hair and blonde shades are taken less seriously

I have a friend who interview people fairly regularly for job interview
and he says that the more serious a girl with blonde hair is about the job, the more tightly she puts her hair up, until it almost looks like her hair makes her eyebrows get stuck at the top

To dye or not to dye, that is the question.

lol! great replies but not what I was looking for more like tell them to give me a politicians haircut. The problem is the barbers at this shop are foreigners who will not really understand. You have to be straight with them like 1 on the sides and slick the top back or something.

I think I'll just take all the advice and pick anything that looks neat.

Thanks/

I suggest the long bangs over the eyes in order to make it blatantly obvious that you listen to emo music. (even if you don't, it's clearly good taste) Make sure you pout a lot at the interview too.

i was going to go retro and rock the Flock of Seagulls do...maybe Kid n Play?

Hell I just have a high and tight, 0 on the sides and 2 on top....hair that doesn't need to be combed/styled ftw!

Just look professional and clean. Keep it a natural color. If long, make sure nothing hangs in your face. Also, don't forget to ditch the tongue ring for the day.

how about something like this:

my hair is still curly from my last perm, I know it hurts but I am going to cut it short just for the interviews.
though I really don't want to have hairstyle like those typical Asian pride dudes......

You should get a military cut.... isn't it like 0 on the sides and like 2 on top?🙂

You generally can't go wrong with a mullet. It's the haircut that's "business up front, party in the back." I'd imagine that it comes in handy if you like to wear your hair long throughout the year, but want it presentable for an interivew without cutting it all off.

Yup, and no comb, brush, or any of that styling garbage needed, low maintenance ftw!

I'd refrain from long hair if your a guy (unless you can braid it down to your buttcheeks).

dreadlocks might not be a bad idea either....👍

anyone have an opinion on facial hair for guys?

I always wear chin pubes. I've only shaved them once in the past 5 years or so and it was for a med school interview.

Do you think they care if you have facial hair?

Yes, they care. Some places (Ohio State is one) have a written "no facial hair" policy for their hospitals. They probably have a religious exception, but I'm guessing "chin pubes" woulnd't qualify. 😉

I'd wear your hair in a way you are comfortable with...whatever that is. If you don't feel "yourself" at the interview, that will show. That being said, I'd avoid anything highly outrageous, like a bright blue mohawk. I'd keep facial hair either completely gone, or neatly trimmed, and short.
