During the process of nerulation...

a. the ectoderm begins to develope into the notochord
b. three distinct germ layers develop
c. organogenesis begins
d. the neural tube opens and begins to develop into the spinal colum
e. the third and fourth cleavage take place.

Barron's answer is C which I think it's wrong. Do you know the name of stage at which the above a, b, c, d, e processes occur. thank~!

Thanks!

Well I know B) is gastrulation.... and E) would be a morula (solid ball of cells)
For D) there is already a neural tube, so neuralation has already occured..
Thats about as far as I got... But it still gets you down to a 50% 50%...lol

I think a morula is more than just 3~4 cleavages.

a= notochord has MESODERMAL origin
b= gastrulation
c= correct
d= NOTOCHORD develops into the vertebral column
e= before everything

Tricky tricky. Most of the nervous system develops from the ectoderm but the notocord develops from the mesoderm. Oh my.

does anyone have schaum's outline or whatever? if then could someone tell me where i can find about this info? or the word notocord? i can't find it 🙁

thanks guys,

how about "the neural tube opens and begins to develop into the spinal colum"? does it occurs during neurulation tooo? thanks!

During the process of neuralation

a. the ectoderm begins to develope into the notochord
NOPE - notocord develops from an early embryonic tissue called menenchyme (derived from mesoderm, induced by lip of blastopore during early stages of gastrulation.)
b. three distinct germ layers develop
NOPE - this occurs during gastrulation. the three tissues arleady exist at this point.
c. organogenesis begins
- YEP - notocord induces the neural tube to form via invagination of the ectoderm. nervous system is the first organ to develop if you don't count notocord as an organ.
d. the neural tube opens and begins to develop into the spinal colum
- NOPE - neural tube doesn't OPEN, the ectoderm pinchs in and forms a tube.
e. the third and fourth cleavage take place.
- NOPE - this happens early in morula phase. this is even pre- blastula.
