Yeah, kind of irresponsible journalism to present this story as such without more information. People don't get demoted for just raising a concern via a letter.
This was lovely:
Nuovo's attorney, William Patmon, said his office has received several calls from patients since 10TV News first reported the lawsuit on Thursday.
I think this is a great news story. Interobserver reproducibility on diagnoses is much worse than most admit. Intra and interdepartmental consults usually do not reveal this as many don't want to make waves over minor to moderate discrepancies and just say the emperor is at least wearing underwear (there are rare a-holes, though that enjoy crapping on other people's diagnoses even if the first diagnosis was fully defensible). I'm hoping this guy's gold standard is biopsy/cone because if it is HPV amplification/detection he's fighting an uphill battle since there is a known false negative bias in most platforms of that test.
