Do programs require a deposit to secure my spot after receiving an acceptance? If so, how much time do I have before I am required to pay my deposit?

I am just concerned that I will end up paying a deposit for a second-choice school just because they accepted me first and then later receiving an acceptance from my top choice and basically having my deposit go to waste.

Each school have different deadlines, they are usually 2 weeks or so. It is actually normal for a student to pay a deposit for a seat and then choose another school. Sometimes the deposit is fully or partially refundable, most of the time not.

The cost of putting in a deposit for a program that you're not sure you will attend is part of the cost of applying to PT school. I've seen a lot of people on these forums that had to do that. I've also seen the cost of a deposit range from $200-$1,000.

Last year, one of my schools didn't require any deposit (just a signed piece of paper accepting the spot), another required a deposit within a couple of weeks, and a third required the deposit only three days after notifying me. So it can all vary a lot.

All of the programs I applied to required a deposit within 2 weeks (max) of being accepted. Like it was mentioned before, most people put down multiple deposits and that's just part of the process of applying to PT school. My smallest deposit was $100, and the greatest was $500 (though, I've heard that some schools are $1000+)

USA required a deposit of $500 (non-refundable, goes toward first term tuition) & submission of completed contract to secure a seat in the class.
