Hi ya?ll,

I?m sure someone has asked these questions before, but I was hope I can get some much needed answers.

Okay, so I?m about to go abroad to Pakistan to attend Dental school. It?s a 4 year program. My intent after completing school there is to come back and practice in California, where I grew up.

Now here come the questions:

1. When I comeback what are the steps I would have to take in order to practice?

2. I know there is one exam that is for foreign students, and one that is the state exam. When and where are these tests held?

3. How many times can you take each test?

4. Overall, what are the pros and cons of studying abroad and coming back to practice in the states?

Any, information would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

First of all congrass for getting in to detntal school in pakistan r u going to lahore or Karachi.

comming ot ur question now even though ur a california resident when u come back from pakistan u will have BDS degree so u have to pass the NBDE part 1 & 2 state license exam and the bench test. These exam r held in california and u can them as many time as u want OR untill u pass

I have heard that this is the last year for which this law is applicable i mean probably by the time ur done with the school there might be some new law.

Than if u give the california state licesne exam then u can only work in california what if u have to more to anywhere else then u r back to square one .the best solution for all the foreign graduates who want to go in to practice is to do DDS . u migt have to do that too when u come back SOOOOOOOOO y to go in the first place all the colleges charge Twice as much to the foreign college graduates than they would to normal students (not the private ones) try to get in some of the detnal college here instead of doing 4 years in Pakistan and then going to school for another 2 years after comming here.
Think about it if i was u i would try to get in this or may be next year instead of going there trust me its really hard if ur foreign graduate.

Someone once told me that after the 2nd yr of the program you can take NDB part 1 and apply to school here in the US , I am not sure how authentic this info is though.

Doubt it, if you check on their websites, most schools won't allow transfer students from non-accreditted dental schools.

Bella, if you get accepted in a dental school here, rather do it here than abroad.
