What happens over the summer when you apply?

I'll be applying next summer, but am curious what usually happens with the application over the course of the summer. I will apply as soon as the application process opens, but I'm thinking of traveling overseas from the middle of June-September. Do schools usually need to get in touch with you during this time? Do they send anything in the mail? Would it be reasonable to have my friend or family member mail me documents that are sent out? Thanks

My biggest is advice is not to worry. I know it's stressful waiting to hear back, but I would enjoy the summer. For the most part, you should be good to travel around then, but some schools will have secondaries. I want to say that for the most part you would be able to complete them over-seas, email them to family and have them mail them. The only problem might come with signatures, but I don't remember having to sign anything (other than checks -expect a lot of those) and your family can sign for those and you can repay, or buy gifts. 😉

Not really any new info, but I agree with everything that was stated above. September will be a good time to be returning as it seems that is when many schools are beginning to conduct their interviews. On that note, most schools invite you for an interview by email. Then, as long as you have their number, you can call to schedule it for a convenient time (before December of course).

You might get some interview invitations as early as August so I would just make sure you have someone back home who can check the mail for you/be able to check your email. Other than that you should be fine.
