I've been accepted to my second choice d school and alternate-listed by my first choice school.
I plan to make a deposit soon but I wonder what happens to the money if I later get accepted by my first choice school and wants to attend there?
Will I get the money back?

say bye-bye to that check 😛 they keep it👎

This rule holds in pretty much every situation for the rest of your life: pay a deposit, back out of agreement, lose your deposit. There is a purpose to collecting a deposit; it's not just b/c they're short on cash right now.

I think it depends on the school. Some will keep it but I think there are a few that will issue you a refund depending on how long you hold the seat. Just check with the school to be sure.

In my letter from Buffalo it says the deposit is refundable until March 1, 2008.
