Can anyone explain to me what an acting internship is?

Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages of doing an "acting internship"?

It's a rotation in your fourth year where you they give you the responsibilities of an intern/first year resident (PGY-1).

Advantage: You get to show them that you will be a competent resident since you have a bit more responsibility than a regular 4th yr elective. You learn a lot and your actual intern year goes a lot smoother with all the mistakes already behind you.

Disadvantage: You have to work your ass off for 4 weeks at a time when your classmates have already put it in cruise control
