Diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health services provided for individuals in the community

that's perhaps not the greatest definition of community health ever...i'm a public health student right now, and would define community health and medical care that often focuses more on preventative medicine, screening, and "routine" care like neonatal care. major surgery, for instance, would not be classified as community medicine. literally, community medicine occurs "in the community", in healthcare clinics and doctor's offices that are often reaching out to under-served populations...
in a research context, community health could be defined as the overall health characteristics of a given population/community. what diseases are most prevalent/incident? what sorts of social factors (poverty, poor housing, lack of green places to exercise) influence the health of this community? and, most importantly, what can be done--both medically, education-wise, and structurally--to improve the health of this community.
i'm running off to meet someone for dinner--but i hope this helps🙂
