I have completed a few secondaries, but my LOR have not been received by schools yet. I'm a borderline applicant and need to apply as early as possible. I don't want to waste money applying too late... I'd rather just wait until next year. What is considered early enough?

You may want to try searching for the answer to your question as this has been asked numerous times.

From what others have mentioned on this site though, having your primary in by the end of June/beginning of July and your secondaries in within two weeks of receiving them is early. Make sure to check the secondaries thread so that you can fill out any secondary apps for schools that don't screen.

"Early" was June.

July is OK - middle of the pack.

August is on the wrong side of OK, sort of late.

September is definitely "late."

October...fuggedaboutit!

Are you talking about primary or secondaries? The OP said he's in the process of doing secondaries right now so I'm assuming he submitted the primary already. If you're talking about secondaries then wow, that's hardcore.

Yes, I am talking about completed secondaries (there are, of course, exceptions for schools that don't even send out secondaries until mid to late July).

If that is hardcore, then I wear the label proudly.

This is an extremely competitive process, and being anything less than "early" or fairly close to early is foolhardy. These threads are chock full of people who applied "late" and got killed for it...

FTR, most of the schools to which I applied did not have a secondary available until July (early July -- July 1st etc).

Frankly I think most people will have an extremely difficult time being complete at a school where the secondary has not yet come out.

OP, IMHO, you're fine. Just get the secondaries in.

Hey it's fine if you're hardcore but I just think you gave misleading information. You said July is "middle of the pack". So you're saying that right now, for some secondaries, about half the people that are applying have completed their secondaries?
