I am still waiting for one of my transcripts to get there, but in the meantime, does anyone know what is included in the sGPA? Should I be including pathophysiology in the biology department to help it? Anyone know anything about this? I called PTCAS but the lady I talked to didn't know how they did it.

Pathophysiology would be included in your science GPA. If there is a drop down option for pathophysiology, just list it as that. The course subject is encompassed overall in biology when PTCAS calculates things on their end. I can't link it with my account but PTCAS has a course subject breakdown for your GPAs on their website if you wanted to look into it further.

Anything listed as any of these subjects will go into your science GPA:

Anatomy, Physiology, Anatomy & Physiology

Animal Science, Bacteriology, Biodiversity, Biology, Biomedical Science, Biomolecules, Botany, Cellular & Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Cellular Physiology, Cytology/Cytotechnology, Developmental Biology, Disease, Earth Science, Ecology, Embryology, Endocrinology, Entomology, Eukaryotics, Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, Hematology, Histology, Immunology, Limnology, Marine Biology, Marine Science, Microbiology, Micro-Organisms, Molecular Biology, Natural Science, Neural Mechanisms, Neurobiology, Neurology, Neuroscience, Parasitology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Physical Sciences, Physiological Science, Plant, Plant Biology, Plant Sciences, Population Biology, Prokaryote Physiology, Toxicology, Virology, Zoology

Analytic Chemistry, Armchair Chemistry, Basic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Intro to Chemistry, Medical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Physical Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physiological Chemistry, Qualitative Analysis, Quantitative Analysis, Structure & Bonds, Structure & Reaction

Biophysics, Electricity, Electricity & Light, Heat, Light, Magnetism, Mechanical Heat, Nuclear Physics, Physics, Thermodynamics

Wow, thank you for the comprehensive breakdown, I looked all over for this! Do you think that listing Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics as Physiology and Physics would be beneficial since they aren't listed?

No problem. Unfortunately you would need to list exercise physiology and biomechanics just as they are, since there should be a drop down option for both. Both of these course subjects fall under what PTCAS considers 'Movement Science' which is a group on its own and not calculated into your science GPA. I wouldn't recommend listing courses (where there is an exact available option in the drop down list) as something else since PTCAS will most likely make you change it anyway when they are reviewing and going through your verification. Feel free to just google PTCAS and GPA and there is a page available with a breakdown of all subjects and where they fit into the scheme of your GPA.

Well, that is unfortunate, but thank you for the clarification!

If it helps, after you send your application, you can download a PDF of it off PTCAS and if your transcript is approved already, it breaks down all of the GPAs for you! 🙂

Has anyone's transcripts been verified yet? I submitted on Jul 9 and still not verified 🙁
