What is interfolio?

What is interfolio? What do I do for letter of reccommendation? All have done thus far is just submit requests??

Interfolio is a medium and a storage
You ask professors to write you a LOR
the website send an invitation for them, they should received it and write you something.
The website notify you that they did write you something and their letter will be stored there
Then you can later use it in your applications.
THe website keep your letter for a price
1 year for 16 I think or 20 dollar
3 years for another amount of money
but I don't think they ever delete it, the only difference between 3 years and 1 year is you can access your LOR for three years
just in case you needed to apply later to some other place.
Bad news is, you have to pay each time they send a lor for a school.

Good news is you see someone now, ask him for LOR, instead of asking him after a year when he forgot you,

Thank you for responding, but if i already contacted my professors for letters of rec then I just don't understand what interfolio does? Doesn't they just receive a link from the application and directly upload their letter or is that not correct? Sorry I am just a little confused.

Yep, in this sense interfolio isn't necessary. But, for the reasons stated by the person above, it provides a lot of peace of mind

it saves the letters for 1 year
then if you pay money it save it for 3 years

Some people don't get accepted so it will be helpful if they have it stored

Ok I see thank you all so much for responding! And does ADEA AADSAS send the letters to each school once they receive them from my letter of rec teachers and dentists?

Interfolio changed their fees to $48 per year. It is good for sending them to a bunch of different application services. However, if you just have one or two application services then just save your money and have your professors send letters directly. I paid for the $19/year service and have 3 months left until it expires. They changed their prices and I now I have to pay most of that $48 (prorated $5 off) :/

Tl;dr: You're already paying a bunch of fees for apps, so need to waste money on unnecessary things.
