I am a senior in High School and am very interested in attending Northwestern's HPME program next year. I interviewed in Late January and will hear from Northwestern after April 1.

One thing I've heard about NUMS is that it includes a lot of PBL. I don't know exactly what this is and whether or not I will learn better with it or not. I know it stands for Problem Based Learning, but beyond that I don't know how it works.

Can someone explain it to me please?

Thanks,
marthpodi

There's a thread that discusses this... do a search and type Northwestern and/or PBL in general

PBL just uses case studies and vignettes as a tool to learn clinical and basic science material (as opposed to didactic or traditional lecture methods) PBL usually occurs in small groups cuz it works best that way to discussed the problem. Most schools combine both styles (PBL and didactic)

good luck
