Hi, I just wanted to know what PCOM's academic calendar is like. Is there any substantial time off for winter break, summers, etc. Is the trisemester a good thing or bad thing, any opinions I would most appreciate , thanks

The academic calendar includes a week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks off for Winter Break, a week off in February for Spring break and the summer after your first year off. (June to second week of August)

I think that the Trimesters are good in the sense that every three months you have the opportunnity to start off the trimester with a feeling of accomplishment.

Since we have an integrated approach here at PCOM they do a pretty good job of blocking off subjects into the three trimesters.

If history repeats itself, your first year breaks will be slighlty more enjoyable than your second year breaks. Last year, as a first year, we had exams just before our Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. This gave us the opportunnity to relax over break.

However, in our second year, we had exams the week we returned from break. Believe me when I tell you that it was difficult for everyone to study over these breaks and prepare for these exams.

Hope this helps.

Any other questions, just let me know.

thanks chisel for the response, it was very helpful.

Since your a current student, would you also mind answering another question. On average with your apartment and food and all, how much do you need in loans your first 2 years and do you rent a 9 month lease or 12??

Rob

Figure that rent will cost you between $600 to $1000. The places that I have been require a 12 month lease, unless you want to pay mor per month for a shorter lease....which is obviously not worth it.

Tuition is in the ball park of $31,000.

It depends on how much you go out and how much food you eat.

These numbers should give you a pretty good idea of how much money you'll borrow for the first two years.
