What is the best dental assisting handbook/text book??

huh what book?? you just have to go in and learn it for yourself no book is gonna tell you where stuff is placed in each office and what every instrument is for...your boss or other assistants are the best resource, plus time...good luck

I know a couple of books I could recommend, but please tell me your exact purpose for wanting to read a dental assisting book so I can make the best suggesstion based on your needs. 🙂

You can go to the barnes and noble website and type in "dental assisting". It will give you a few options. Check out the books and see the one that best fits what it is you are looking for.

Thanks, but I did that already. They all look pretty similar so I was wondering if any of you have actually read and liked any one particular book.

My purpose is to learn the basics of dental assisting. I'm learning on the job but I'd like to speed up the process...

I shadowed at a dental office during last Christmas. I found a book below being very useful. They used it as a manual in office for everyone.

Book: Torres and Ehrlich Modern Dental Assisting
by Doni L. Bird and Debbie S. Robinson.
RK60.5 .B57 2002 (library code)

I read some of your post to know that you are a former pre-med. You definitely persist in studying. You made a right choice of being a dental assistant but NOT a dental hygienist while waiting to get in a dental school.

Ahhhh finally! Thank you 😛

I ended up buying Delmar's Dental Assisting (2nd Ed. I think)... but I will definitely check out the other book at the library 😉
