Asking this question at the forum full of people working beyond hard on their degrees in order to achieve their goals - is definately asking for trouble.

I suppose you can major in liberal arts that's certainly easier and requires much less coursework than majoring in biochemistry for example.

I would say a pure biology major is the "easiest" major because it has less "hard" classes that you would have to take as opposed to biochem or microbio or some derivative of those. And the pure bio major covers a lot of the pre-reqs. If you did a liberal arts major, the liberal arts classes might distract you from the pre-pharm stuff you have to take although those classes are usually pretty easy.

Don't be a cop out. If I were on admissions committee I would reject you for crap like this.

agree a 100 %, if I ever met someone with such a lousy attitude - I would permanently ban them from applying to pharmacy school.

i'm not cop out treehore, it just that i have took almost all of the pharmacy's pre-reqe's, now they change it requirements from 60 credits to 90, and u must have a degree and completed all required credits before u can start their program.

I'm going to take a stab and guess you're discussing UCHSC. They absolutely do not require you to have a bachelor's degree, all they want are additional electives along with biochemistry and physiology. The admissions committee will look and consider the level of difficulty of the courses you choose to take. Intro to Basket Weaving isn't going to slip under their radar.

Speaking from experience use this opportunity to beef up your education in a meaningful way. It'll make your first year so much easier. There isn't a lecture where I don't utilize the additional courses I took and as a result understand the material better.

The easiest major is no major... the easiest school is no school... the easiest job is no job... the easiest house is no house... the easiest money is no money... the easiest family is no family

Life ain't easy...

... unless you don't have a major, school, job, house, money, or family. Then its a breeze i hear.

Biology would probably be your best bet. You do get all the pre-reqs out of the way, and the upper division courses provide a well-rounded background once you're in pharmacy school. Plus the elective courses like ecology for example is much easier than the elective courses you would have to take if you're majoring in biochemistry or microbiology instead. And if bio is not your thing, then pick something you actually Like to study or find enjoyable, so you can have something to talk about in your interview.

Eh, pharmacy school isn't really that bad. If you've ever had a really needy girlfriend, you'll be prepared for the time consuming nature of pharmacy school.

It's TreehorN to you, son. 😉

Pick your major based on your interests, not because one is easier than the other.

Thats pretty funny. I should have no problems! 🙄

I say biology, or just go to the school you want to go to, pick up a sheet of all thier majors and figure out which one are you closest to completing. Think about, what do you want to do as a side job while being a pharmacist, what have you always wanted to learn about?

here are some options:

Marine Biology
Anatomy
Evolutionary Biology
Medical Microbiology
Oceanography
Reproductive Biology
Cell and Molecular Biology
Biomedical Engineering
biology education
Animal Development
Animal Biology
Zoology
Virology

😀

PS try spanish as well as occupational therapy

I think Chemistry is definitely the "easiest" and most fun major.

First off, you sometimes have quarters( or semesters) where you have to take 16 hours of lab classes a week. Then write a 10 page report on those experiments with countless hours of fun calculations. Then there is Statistical and Quantum Mechanics. Um, it is really fun when you get to refresh your differential, multivariable calculus, and determinant math skills. There is no way you can get confused learning about how orbitals are formed once you know about the Shrodinger equation. Ah, and the best thing about chemistry is you get to write those awesome mechanism problems with tons of cool functional groups, where there is a very high possibility you will mess up, and so you learn so much more from your mistakes than you can ever imagine. And if you want some more fun, take those chemistry graduate courses.👍

I highly suggest that you Pick Chemistry major. How can you not🙂

Any kind of engineering degree would leave you plenty of time for your pre-pharm classes.

He's right, that and Botany are the best majors. Botany is so easy.

Talk to your school counselor or advisor. Basically, you can choose any major that you enjoy to get BS. But if you want to apply to pharmacy schools, you will have to take the specific prerequisites of the school that you want to apply to.

what are u kidding me dude Biology majors have to take biochem at alot of universities to graduate. Microbio is also a part of the credit that bio majors can take to graduate. I took Biochem, Micro bio, Cell bio bc im a bio major and all were upper level so Bio is not the easiest major.

He probably meant it that out of the science degrees - biology is the easiest. Bio major is certainly harder than let's say english major or major in liberal arts but out of the science degrees - biology is the easiest IMHO( biochemistry and chemistry senior here)

🙂

I was a Botany major for awhile - but I never actually earned a degree - is was more of a place filler while I took the classes I needed. As to which is easiest - it doesn't matter - I chose a major that allowed me to take the classes I wanted/needed to - you should definitely do the same.

I was going to be a music major; that would have been pretty awesome too, to be able to take prerequisites and also do what I loved. I know a couple people from my college that were music and drama majors that ended up going to top notch medical schools too, so it's mostly about your drive that they want to see, not necessarily what you took.

chemistry major isnt hard either bc ive taken several upper chem classes but biochem yeah thats prob hard lol. i would say marine bio

There was some documentation about ten years ago that proportionally, more music majors went on to medical school than any other major. I don't know how that shakes out into graduate/professional schools as a whole, but it makes sense. Musicians do algebra constantly (counting time), they do foreign language (transposition, signature markings, all that Italian), physics (intonation/sound/vibration), history/culture (all the different genres).... someone who is a good enough musician to major in it in college realy has a lot going for them.

I wouldn't count that as algebra and physics.

The ability to play an instrument and study music has a classy association with it. I imagine that helps a lot.

"I've been playing violin since I was 4 years old."

But they might leave out the bit about their pushy parents forcing them to learn.

"Count" as in "receive credit," no. But count as in helping the student understand properties of physics---- absolutely. The ability to make noise on a musical instrument isn't so special. However, the ability to make it sound aesthetically pleasing, to sound melodious, to get "that sound," definitely involves physics.

What physics are used by a musician?

Do they know that the intensity orchestra is about .063 watts per square meter?

For stringed instruments, do they think of simple harmonic motion:
x(t) = A sin (wt + d)

Does the idea of a magnetic field immediately become obvious when they play near a microphone?

I was a music major for two years at a pure music school (conservatory) before transferring out and earning a statistics degree. No, there is nothing directly related to physics that is taught to us.

We take music history, which actually does teach good writing skills, and we had to write 15-20 page papers in those classes. Then music theory, which is unlike anything else. I think it is easy once you get the hang of it though. The music classes were great at this conservatory!!

But it wasn't necessarily blow-off. Some people did fail the music history classes. What was blow-off were the silly liberal arts classes. But again, it was a conservatory and not a college, and the school was catering to trying to pass foreign students (mostly from Korea) who could not speak very good English or write well (the TOEFL requirements were only 460 to get admitted conditionally with ESL, they cared more about your audition). Keep in mind that most graduate schools require at least 550 and usually 600 (paper version). So the teacher would make it easy to earn a B-/B/B+ but impossible to earn an A-/A. Which upset me. The student who wrote poor English got B-, while I tried to write a great paper but only got B+ since only two A-/A's were awarded in a class of about 20 people. And the paper was sometimes over the most stupid things that were laughable like Stuart Little, and Mickey Mouse. Imagine trying to write a paper that was going to be nitpicked and taken apart about something as childish such as Stuart Little!! I was almost laughing when I got the assignment.

Thankfully, I only took two liberal arts classes (Freshman Seminar) before I transferred out at the end of the second year, so my other courses were all A-/A.

Medical technology.
Chemistry..

If u are not prepared to work hard to achieve your goals, PHARMACY SCHOOL IS NOT FOR YOU!!!

NOTHING COMES FOR FREEEEEEE!!!! Pharmacy is not like MONOPOLY, there is NO GET OUT OF FREE CARD!

How chemistry can be considered an easy major is beyond me - in our school you have to take 3 semesters of physics with calculus (lab included) plus pchem lab plus advanced inorganic chemistry + A WHOLE LOT OF MIND TWISTING ELECTIVES. Biology on the other hand is pretty straightforward - I took nearly every upper division biology class in biology department and did great in it studying less than I ever did for any chemistry class.🙂🙂

I think they're being facetious.

I think they're being facetious.

Well... maybe

In all seriousness (To the OP) - this forum is built upon the notion that everyone here wants to do whatever they can to get into pharmacy school. It doesn't sit well when someone simply asks for the "easiest" way.

If you search, you may find your answer - its here. You may however, want to use more tact in asking such questions.

I totally agree. Bio is not an easy major.. I took microbio, biochem, immunology, infection and immunity, Mol. cell bio and so many others.

There is no easy major. A major in Biology or chemistry would help you in pharmacy school. Biochemistry is also a great option.
