What is the meaning to Supplementals?

Hi SDN,

I was wondering... Does supplemental = secondary? Does everyone receive supplemental/secondaries? Do the schools only send these to those they are interested in?

Yes, generally supplement/secondary means the same thing.

It varies by school, some don't have any at all, some send to everyone, some send to selected applicants and some send to applicants who are invited for interview.

They just give you a sheet to put down your basic info (name, location, schools attended etc)

It also asks where you applied and the result thus far in the cycle.

Yes, Supplementals are secondaries and I am applying to NYU and I think they have you fill out a secondary/supplemental application if they choose you for an interview? That was my understanding from what I have read, maybe someone knows some more about that? I hope I get an interview from NYU, would love to see the school in person and be in the city!

You will have to submit your secondaries so they can begin the processing of reviewing your application. You need to submit one regardless of whether or not they invite you for an interview.

Thanks distressstudent! I did send in my payment to NYU but the secondary wasn't much of one if you know what I mean, they said that they have all of my payment fees and forms so I guess I am set, haha.

NYU never sent me a secondary....
They did however, send me an email saying this..
"
Thank you for applying for admission to the New York University College of Dentistry. We are writing to notify you that your application is complete and your application fee has been received.

Your application will now be forwarded to the NYUCD Admissions Committee for review. We ask that applicants be patient with the review process. "
