What is the proper way to withdraw an acceptance?

It's May 13th, and I still haven't officially withdrawn my acceptance from the school I'm not going to (and they have my deposit!) I don't have the information in front of me, so I was wondering what the most accepted and respectable way to withdraw your acceptance from a school is? And do I still have time to do it and get my deposit back? Does it need to be in writing at the school by May 15th?? Thanks for your help!!!

Call the school and ask. Maybe they'll let you do it over the phone, maybe not. Each school has a different policy, so contacting each directly is probably best.

most that I have talked to require it in writing. Write out a nice little letter saying, "Thanks, but I have decided otherwise..."
